I really don't think it comes down to cash with VvD going to Liverpool. They can already afford it purely in terms of amount of money.

That's more or less the point I'm making. We could hold him to his contract. We're not the ones in the wrong here, and if VvD decided to kick up a stink even more, I don't think he'd have many people siding with him.

Thing is, if we hold firm and keep him, is he really prepared to sit on his arse for 5 years? If we were picking him for the team, he'd be in breach of contract and liable for fines if he doesn't play.

Yeah, was just starting to break through to the first team when he got the ACL injury as well, appeared on the bench a couple of times, without coming on. It's really good to see him back and fighting back to that sort of form again.

Obvious to anyone that Klopp isn't happy with his defence with Europe to contend with now. Sounds like damage control after finally realising that VvD isn't going there to me.
