Aaaand 8 down. Two more needed.
-
Wasn't expecting us to have much chance of getting the win, but now that we have... Pressure on Sussex must be immense now, we've done well to get the win early today.
-
Probably too late for this year's edition, but what I'd really like to see is an estimate of what the clauses and bonuses will cost when you're negotiating contracts, maybe based on the previous season's performance, or an average of the last three seasons maybe.

Man Utd were utterly ****, they didn't deserve a ****ing thing out of that game.
-
Bale is the obvious example, although it took a lot of time for him to show it. EDIT: Oh wait, missed the 'since we returned to the Prem' bit. Shaw was just starting to show a fair bit of improvement to be fair, had been one of United's better players so far this season.
-
Just caught up with this, looked sickening Would be surprised if he's back in time for the European Championships, but I really really hope I'm wrong and he has a speedy recovery.

It's not rivalry any more, it's light entertainment

No further action! What a weekend by Hamilton, one of the most dominant in recent years by any driver.
-
Fastest in P1. Fastest in P2. Fastest in P3. Fastest in Q1. Fastest in Q2. Fastest in Q3. Fastest lap of the Race. Led every second of the race. A perfect Grand Slam this weekend. Looks like none of it will matter as the one tyre they measured was 0.3 psi under a new regulation when it was measured on the grid, after it had initially been inflated by a Pirelli guy in the first place. If it's a safety issue, why were only four cars measured, and why were they allowed to race? Seems harsh, guess we wait and see if he does get disqualified but seems to be the way the wind is blowing.

I'm aware of the duplication, it means they can be found in either place There's also Jaidi both under staff and former players, if anyone knows if he's still working for the club it'd be appreciated. The forum members are there because they put their twitter handles forward in one of these threads ages ago, anyone else that wants to be there as well can be.

For those of you interested, Twitter links have been updated for this transfer window http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?24915-Libel-Reminder-Use-of-Main-Board-Rules-Useful-Links&p=1021636#post1021636 As always, any corrections/updates/mistakes I've missed are welcome

CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal
Jimmy_D replied to Brizzie Saints's topic in The Saints
It's basically paid product placement for Football Manager. The comparison here is skewed because you have a huge league compared with a relatively small league, in reputation terms, and a team far bigger than the league it's in. Basically the worst possible conditions for comparing players in FM, they're a bit more representative between teams in the same league or leagues of a more comparable reputation, but still subject to a relatively small group of people's own opinions. -

Those were the Football Manager stats. Sky's transfer window coverage this year is being sponsored by Football Manager, so they're using the ratings from there. There are FM researchers for each club, they have a limited 'points budget' for their players that's based on the reputation of the club and the reputation of the league the club is in, to try and maintain balance between different researchers. In this case, you have an example of VVD's attributes being limited by the league he's in. -
Any one of Romeu, Wamyama, Clasie with Rodriguez playing off of Pelle if we want to change the shape of the team, or for any one of Mane, Tadic, Pelle depending on form/fitness.
-
Stones also still has four years left on his contract, and Chelsea need a replacement for John Terry. It's probably only the transfer request that's giving Chelsea a chance of getting him at all.

CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal

We probably can match what they'll be willing to go up to, in which case, it'll be down to the player's choice, in which case working with Koeman hopefully swings it for us. Celtic probably think Everton will offer more than we're offering at the moment. -

Reckon they think they can get more from Everton if they sell Stones for £40M. If we're going to get him, might come down to VVD wanting to work with Koeman. -
Keep hold of him for another year, and it's probably 50-50 whether Pochettino will still be at Spurs. That seems to be the biggest motivation for Wanyama to go there.
-
They really are a despicable club if they're leaking fictitious rumours of Wanyama wanting to leave to try and unsettle him and/or the club.
-
Surprised you managed to finish that post before Leicester equalised

Have to say, looking forward to MotD tonight, seems to have been a cracking set of games today.

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 1-1 FC Midtjylland
Jimmy_D replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Just back, thought we were by far the better team on the night, although we still look a bit rusty in some places. Result isn't what we would have chosen, leaves us needing to win out there, but I think we'll be ok. -
I suppose Feyenoord might not notice the registration of their player going missing.
-
If they get to 1 year left, you can end up with a De Gea situation. We got the money in, bought replacements and had a good season. If you're going to use what could have happened as the downside, you should use what could have happened as the upside as well. Any club can lose players if they're good and they want to leave (see De Gea) Look at what's happened to Villa and Sunderland this summer. Their fans would probably consider their club bigger than Saints. Our good academy and good recruitment recently is what's making us in particular a target.
-
Actually, the upside was that we realistically challenged for the Champions League places and didn't lose players for free at the end of their contract.
