FA Cup 5th round draw thread (Sunderland Away)
Kingsbridge Saint replied to rickylambert's topic in The Saints
Decent draw with 4 of the big guns facing each other. Every chance of going to the Stadium of Fight and getting at least a draw and putting that **** Brown out of the League Cup Final. -
Begrudging thanks to Rupert Lowe and Southampton City Council
Kingsbridge Saint replied to spyinthesky's topic in The Saints
Agree with the OP. Without Lowes vision it is arguable whether we would have the stadium, or the academy now. Would be really interested in reading an unbiased objective, professionally written summary of the Lowe years, without all the entrenched views, prejudices and rose tinted speccies too. I am sure there would be stuff in there that would surprise those with fixed views - both favourable and negative. -
I'd like to see them in the Conference for about 20 years. And hopefully banned from playing in Hampshire for a while for good measure too. £150M wasn't it? How much did Newport go under for?

Ah - recall fondly Friday nights - off the top board at Central, then over to the Juniper Berry for the strippers. Two thrills for the price of one bus ticket.

We need to send out Wanyama and a few of our heavies to follow through on tackles and see how far they get.

Post Match Reaction: Sunderland 2-2 SAINTS
Kingsbridge Saint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
The news of the injuries will determine my frame of mind on this one. But cometh the day, Wes Brown is up against the wall with Adrian Heath, Roger Milford, Rory Fallon, Billy Davies, David Nugent and Mark Lawrenson. Which one would you shoot first? -
Took a day to digest the news and read this thread. Some great posts by discerning fans and some disgraceful potentially damaging posts by some you really wouldnt like when they are angry. £900K profit for 6 months on a probable capital value of over £100M represents less than 2% return on investment, and the Capital growth has probably flattened off a bit now, hence Kats move. She wont want to threaten the value of her investmant by selling too many, so we should be fine on the pitch - especially with MP staying. She will probably sell to an investor with similar goals relating to the preservation of the value in the club. Would be a bonus if she sold to a mega rich type who just wants a seat at the CL table though! So we should be fine on the pitch this season, and going forward. 3 points Saturday will help a lot. Short termist, yes, but I am right on that.

We owe them one for their scabby draw at ours. Hope we score early, bore the arse of them with keepball and keep a clean sheet. 3 points, minimal entertainment value, up yours Mackems.

Webb did OK but Olsson should have had a red, and that was never a free kick against Shaw at the end. No way in a million years he gives that against Cole or Evra or any big side full back. Shocking decision that one.

With an influx of soldiers of fortune/loanees I am really looking forward to the 'gelling'* period. *see George Burley

Post Match Reaction: SAINTS 0-3 Chelsea
Kingsbridge Saint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
If we are going to beat teams like Chelsea we need to catch them on days when they metaphorically don't turn up. We did it last season, we've done it against other top 4 sides too - we are good enough to exploit that. However, when a top 4 side gets the right mindset any side from the EPL mid-table down will always struggle. Champions League break didn't help the timing. A run in the cup, and a few wins over the next couple of months should ease the memory of this. -
MP's Reaction! Saints 0 V Chelsea 3
Kingsbridge Saint replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
Misleading title thread mods. -
Mourinho will park the bus, and try to hit us on the break. We should play the same way, take the 0-0, and move on. I hate the way Chelsea play when they set out to kill a game. 5 man midfield, J Rod up top.
-
If Clattenburg had a clear view of that and didn't give it I would expect to see him stood down. Nothing to debate there, hand to ball, as clear a penalty as you are likely to see. The only thing that will save him is that it was a big club at home, so the decision was in line with the unofficial FA mandate.

What will you be drinking on New Year's Eve?
Kingsbridge Saint replied to Halo Stickman's topic in The Lounge
The usual. New Years Eve is such a load of overblown BS, full of false Bonhomie, fatuous promises and baseless optimism. -
We can probably carry Fox, and Gazza simply has to improve or we will be better off fielding a traffic cone. Hooiveld, however simply cannot be given a shirt.
-
Right now we're the closest we've ever been to seeing justice served. 2 points. Out of the Football League for their crimes would be fair. Shame the Football Authorities didn't do it sooner, but I guess its been more fun this way. Happy New Year DFCSB's.
-
Hooiveld is worth a goal a game to the opponents. Really needs to sort himself out or ship out.
-
Undermined by 2 players way out of their depth. Didnt think Fox was too bad. In fact he looked good in comparison to the two culprits. Still, season is showing we are heading in the right direction and I am sure we will strenghten in Jan.

Post Match Reaction: Newcastle United 1-1 SAINTS
Kingsbridge Saint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Pleased with the point but every 'good point' at present is undermined by that home defeat to Villa. Need to make sure we bag the 3 against Spurs, who aren't that good really. Gazza doing a decent enough job, 2 conceded in 2, not bad for a 3rd choice. Not Osvaldo's day today with Poch tactics costing him the second half, but those saying get rid should just have another look at his goal last weekend. Get rid? What? -
What was it this time? Surprised there wasnt Security around to deal with the knuckle draggers.

Post Match Reaction: SAINTS 1-1 Manchester City
Kingsbridge Saint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Well worth the 3am shift to watch that live. We were terrific, and the goal was one to treasure. Txt from a City fan at full time saying they he was pleased with a point. Proud Saints fan today. -
I seriously can't believe Balls is still around. Why didn't he scurry down the same hole as his idiot mate Brown? How can he even show his face in public after being a key advisor to arguably the most fiscally damaging, misguided and discredited Chancellorship ever seen in the UK?
