Mancienne ... the one with the dreadlocks who cleared up everything today.... yep, just got called up by England... thought he looked good.
-
Davis 7 - no chance with either goal but made some good stops 2nd half. Still doesn't communicate enough. Cork 6 - Solid game I thought. Always tries to use the ball well. Lancashire 3 - Blessing that he got injured because he would have got sent off again. consistently jumped under the high ball. not good enough. Pearce 6 - Great goal and recovered well after dodgy start. Skacel 6 - Not much going forward but did his job effectively. Schneiderlin 7 - some great passing but needs a 'tackler' alongside him. Tired as game went on. Surman 4 - Not a central midfeidler, too powder puff in the tackle and generally not assertive enough. Euell 4 - Makes runs in to the right areas and with him in the side, the formation has a better chance of working. Sending off was not deserved. yellow at most. Lallana 7 - Worked his balls off. Lovely skills but needs a bit more end product. McGoldrick 6 - Some decent play in the air and on the ground but at 1-0 he was 1 on 1 twice and missed twice. Gobern 2 - Ridiculaous selection. out of his depth. Wright-Phillips 5 - Had a limited impact though very unluckty to hit the post. Not a winger. Perry 6 - Defence looked miles better as soon as he stepped on the park. Poortvliet 2 - Sort it out you clown. The selection of Gobern and the non-selection of Perry were absolutely astounding. If we'd lined up with Wotton in midfield and Surman on the left, with Perry in for Lancashire - that would have been a good line up. Gobern, like Thomson and White - isn't ready. Lancashire is a liability. He gets booked / sent off because he's not good enough so he's always diving in. If Perry is fit then he has to play and he's on the bench so he's fit. The unwritten rule seems to be that we can only pick 2 experienced players and today we had Euell and Skacel. Perry and Wooton in that team would have made it a lot tougher and more organized.

Unless we are in the top half by the end of January we will be relegated as the squad we have post-January will be a lot worse than the one we have now. Even if we sold Surman and Lallana for £4m the pair, I doubt any of that would be re-invested in the first team. Maybe 2 20 year old replacements on loan. Our only hope really is to get lucky with a few loans who perform like Defoe did at Bournemouth for example. Even if we got these players I have no faith in Jan P getting the most out of them. You can't build a young team for the future in the CCC - it's impossible when the best ones will be sold and replaced with inferior players every 6 months.

He took the job to stick 2 fingers up at Mandaric. Lowe gave him the job to stick 2 fingers up at Mandaric. If Lowe had even half a brain cell, he would have realised that employing Harry and giving him a **** squad and no money to deal with was a complete waste of time and yes, Harry should never have taken the job. Yes he's a wide boy and yes he's probably done a lot he won't be too proud of when the day of reckoning comes but he's proved himself a very good manager when the conditions are right. If he'd been given the Burley money and been motivated then d'you think we'd be 20th in the CCC now...? LOWE OUT!

This shouldn't even be a story let alone a ****ing great pitch signing fiasco. It's a joke. Anyone remember Luke Byles? He had the same treatment as far as i recall. ****ing embarrassing, even more so as 180 Wilde is being bigged up as a talent scout. ****ing clowns, just **** off.

Our results away are better than at home because when we are at home, the opposition sits back and we are supposed to make the play. Our totally unsuitable formation means we can't do this and so we end up doing nothing and ultimately getting beat. Not much to do with the fans IMO.... that's an excuse. We playon the counter attack away from home and that's what we're set up for. If JP doesn't realise this and doesn't realise that we need to play a different way when at home then he's not got a clue IMO.
-
The management of the club took a gamble on him being fit and probably playing 40ish games this season which was never ever going to happen
-
The most unbelievable thing about Powell was that we renewed his contract after two years when he'd played about 15 games. I guess he was cheap
-
One trick manager. Got promoted by hoofing it and was totally clueless in the Prem and totally cluless last year when teams (not us) sussed them out. Lost a few players, didn't adapt at all. Will be the next Iain Dowie - semi decent reputation based on one promotion but when you scratch beneath the surface, very very average.
-
He has to play if fit. You pick your best team... are you telling me he's not a better player than BWP, Gobern, McGoldrick, Thomson.... Using the daft formation that JP uses.... I'd go with ----------------------McGoldrick ---Gobern-------------Surman-------------------Lallana -----------Wotton--------------Schneiderlin ---Skacel---------Pearce--------Perry/Lancashire---Cork -----------------------Davis Round pegs in round holes, it will never catch on.
-
We have an extra player in midfield to most teams which is why we can pass it round in that area and is also why we have **** all in the opposition's box. 'Propaganda football' is i think what WGS called it. Ultimately it achieves **** all unless you are getting players in the box and can produce a final ball.
-
"You're so **** it's unbelievable" would be better.

Sorry mate. If Jan can;t see that this formation will never ever work with the players we have then he has to go. I don't blame him for the players he's got but I blame him totally for the way he sets the team up. We don't have a single player who can play as a lone striker so why do it - oh yes, it's what we do in Holland. It doesn't matter a **** where you come from... if you don't have a Drogba type striker who can do all of the following: hold it up, score goals, bring others into play, be mobile about the park and occupy 2 central defenders then it a complete waste of time as you are going to create **** all. We don't have this player.... hardly anyone does. We are so vulnerable on the wings because a) the wide attacking players don't get back and b) we have no specialist fullback. We will not improve at all until we go 4-4-2 and ditch this formation that doesn't suit our players. All this is Jan's call.
-
jan's quote of the day along the lines of "Bristol's style will suit Stern more as they play 4-4-2". Yes you ****ing idiot, the formation in which he scored 20 goals last year. Why didn't we try it you ***.

--------------Davis ---Cork------Perry------Lancashire-----Surman ---Lallana----Wotton-----James--------Skacel ---------------John-------Pekhart
-
He's one of the 3 youngsters along with Surman and Lallana who is actually good enough at this moment in time. When he's not there it just means there's one more 'not good enough' kid in the side.
-
Good points well made and I agree with all of it.
-
I don't blame him for the players he's got but this **** formation does not work and until he changes it to 4-4-2 we have no chance. Defending set pieces really is a coach's domain as well and **** easy to put right so what the **** is going on there.
-
Davis 6 - had no chance with any of the goals, one decent save 2nd half James 3 - Not a full back and never will be. Not good enough. may be good enough in midfield if swapped with Cork. Wotton 3 - Not a centre back as is too slow, really struggled against physical players Lancashire 5 - Did ok but woudl have been sent off again for abysmal studs up challenge had he not connected with the ball. Mills 5 - not bad but still not good enough yet for this league Cork 6 - Thought he was our best player to be honest. Doesn;t hide and puts in a decent shift. Should really be at right back though as we need to get the defence right first. Surman 4 - I know this flies in the face of most people's opinion but i don;t think Surman is a central midfielder - he's too lightweight and just disappears. In this crap formation we play he should be on the left wing. lallana 5 - nice touches but ultimately produced not a lot. McGoldrick 3 - penalty aside he had a decent first half but he should have been subbed on about 60 minutes when his head went down. Robertson 2 - abysmal. not good enough to play up front on his own but then nor is Pekhart, mcGoldrick, John and a vast majority of forwards. Smith 4 - Shocking first half but markedly improved in the 2nd. Poortvliet 1 - Sort it out you ****ing goon. Where was Stern john ? Why are we still persisting with this ****y formation ? Where is Rudi? Where was Perry? play 4-4-2 as it's back to basics and our players have a better chance of understanding it and being able to play in it. This pretty football in the middle third is a complete waste of time - we're able to do it because we have an extra player in there but this means we only have one forward so it doesn't ****ing work. It might if we had Drogba but sadly, we haven't. We're **** up front and **** at the back. Watford were ****ing **** and we gave it to them, absolutely gave it to them. 2 missed pens, a ref who wasn;t afriad to sort out the rough stuff and we still gave it away. Defend like that and we are going down. Everything else is irrelevant.

I'm with Burley on this one I'm afraid. Didn't help that Iwelumo came up with miss of the century..

Did the investment rumours kill off the fans?
L1Minus10 replied to Saint Billy's topic in The Saints
Relegation followed by fire sale followed by Burley, followed by the return of Lowe with a generous helping of crap football all over the place and there you go.... 50% gates drop. -
It's just ****ing crazy that a 19 year old centre back has to come into the side and 3 out of the back 4 have played 10 games between them. If he was slotting in alongside Perry, with decent full backs who were used to playing together then he'd do much better. Fact is that we haven't had a settled defence since 2003 and until we sort this out, any young layer coming into it is going to look like a fish up a tree and we're going to ship loads of goals.

Kelvin Davis- are saints fans the most fickle in the league?
L1Minus10 replied to shurlock's topic in The Saints
Kelvin IMO has been **** for 2 years, 3 years if you count his last year at Sunderland. This year he's played much better and his confidence is obviously back. last year I said he was ****, this year I'm saying he's playing well. It's a statement of fact. -
Assuming John and Schneiderlin are out... I reckon jan will go for... -----------------Davis James-------Perry-------Lancashire----Mills -----------Wotton-------Cork ----------------McGoldrick -Lallana----------Pekhart-------Surman
