i went to the Dominican Republic near-on 10 years ago and it was a fantastic holiday. Stayed at Jack Tar Village (no kids!) in Puerto Plata, which was superb. Food was amazing as was the hotel staff and entertainment. ...its a very poor country and quite unnerving when driving to/from the airport , but once in the hotel complexes it is wonderful. Do some of the touristy excursions to get a feel for the country and the locals lifestyle. And ignore the poster who recommended Cancun....apart from the beach it's a commercialised dump .....would never set foot there again...:mad:

yeh, i've been watching it....it's great , and like others have said ,the presenter is really enthusiastic and is in as much awe and wonder at the subject matter as i am.The way he explains the complex workings of the galaxies is really simple,so great for older kids too . Some of the images shown on there are truly beautiful...DEFINATLEY worth an hour on the iPlayer :smt023
