Danny Welbeck - Told he can leave.. Only for mid table club
CityRanger replied to SaintLondon's topic in The Saints
Tony Fernandes will be rejecting Harry's calls this afternoon I reckon! -
True, but he was all over the place first half and its a fair comment by the blogger that he's the weakest link in our team at the moment imo. Seems fans of other teams can see it too. I didn't post that to have a pop at Maya though I just liked the way he wrote that piece.

This tickled me on a Liverpool blog:"Southampton were not to be out-foxed by Liverpool and they too have had their fair share of heartache majority of it caused by Liverpool. Ronald Koeman also opted for the modern day classic 4-3-3, his very own version of a dark grey suit. With Wanyama, Schneiderlin and Davis acting like the three buttoned slim fitting dinner jacket. Whilst Tadic, Pellè and Ward- Prowse were the perfectly lined lapels to this little number, they looked dangerous. Once again the defensive lineup was the fashion equivalent to a cigarette cut trouser but they too had a chink in their armour, a badly hemmed trouser leg that goes by the name of Yoshida."
-
Chambers will likely be in the next squad. He'll be fast-tracked now he's at Champs League club, the press already linking him to full England squad.
-
If all squad fit for Liverpool I expect: Forster Clyne Fonte Gardos Bertrand Wanyama Ward-Prowse Davis Tadic. Pelle Long However Gardos injured so probs Maya for him - ffs sign another CB or tjis could be our downfall. Again.
-
Just watched the club interview with Long. He sounds clued up, very level headed. Koeman says his attitude is first class too. Very happy with this signing. We have replicated last years skill/power/pace forward line of Ad/Ricky/JRod with Dusan/Pelle/Long and I can't wait to see our new team develop. Long will be important on the counter attack but will also dig in and work for the team when we don't have the ball.

I depends who you choose to believe. Dietmar Hamman was praising our scouting yesterday, saying he had no fears for us as we'll cleverly replace the departed stars. Arsene Wenger also said this only last week:""It will be interesting to see how they get over what happened to them because they got a lot of income and they have shown in the past they are very clever in scouting. It will be very interesting next season to see how they manage what happened to them,". I agree with the op though that some signings look quite obvious ie the dutch league players. The romanian CB will be from the scouting team I would imagine though. We'll find out who is right soon enough!
-
We should have had a class CB lined up even if Lovren stayed. So frustrated, CB was our weak point along with GK last year and cost us many points. GK has been addressed but we really need bodies in defence (anything but Maya or Jos for me).
-
Whats all this nonsense got to do with transfer rumours?
-
I remember when we gave the 7 shirt to Kanchelskis. An absolute travesty.
-
On the other hand, if you're a really really optimistic type of person, you could say that new tactics may give us a short term advantage...A few teams worked us out last year and not just by bypassing midfield. Anyway, no new transfer rumours today then?!
-
I was saying the same to my Father-in Law this afternoon. Anything above one more quality CB and the squad will be stronger than last season. If we can go through the year without having to play Gazza, Kelv, Maya or Jos we will have had a result. Tadic looks at least as good as Adam. Pelle will get some goals and I preferred Clyne to Chambers anyway (not to say Chambers might become a better player in the future though). Looking forward to the season!

BBC Article - The inside story of the great Southampton sell-off
CityRanger replied to Donatello's topic in The Saints
"Perhaps most worrying of all, is the fear the discontent might spread to the club's highly regarded academy. The parents of one 15-year-old player have already decided they no longer want their son to stay on at the club amid the uncertainty. The question now, is where will it all end? When will it all stop?" What a load of absolute nonsense! Parent:" balls to this, there's no way I want my son to stay here, the young lads end up getting massive contracts at Champions League clubs". If the parents quoted there are real(99.9% guaranteed made up) they are as thick as Fudge. The BBC are supposed to be above this blatant hyperbole aren' t they? -
If the Argentinian world cup finalist left back wants to play for us the yes, pay it. That would surely put an end to the asset stripping accusations and prove we have sporting ambition still.
-
Found Arts story! http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/southampton-told-to-up-bid-by-5m-if-they-want-to-start-talks So they want 20m euros for a left back? Scandalous!
-
Bar stewards indeed! You got a link to this new bit of info Art? We like to set massive fees for our players but may have to pay over the odds on some of our own targets I reckon.
-
Chambers + 10mil for Theo to come home is the only way I will be happy if this deal happens.
-
Good news. Huge potential and fantastic attitude.
-
Surely close this premature panic/hysteria motivated thread? It has been confirmed he has a knock, are we going to think players are leaving every time they get a slight strain?
-
These lads won't be happy if this rumour is true!
-
Did Chambers play rb or midfield?
-
Looks like Vinny Jones era intimidating Wimbledon kit. Like it.
-
If Morgan is to go I'd like to see the Dutch lad Clasie replace him. He was stroking it about superbly last night, a very confident young footballer.
-
Mark Hughes and Egil Ostenstad would give them a (very slow) run for their money. That partnership just didn't work!
-
I had a look back through K.Billy's posts(I know!) and he mentions a goalkeeper- its quite easy to find. Can't see this guy coming though, he's best in the league imo...
