Had one of my rare days-out at the cricket today; that was a very good seven hours worth of entertainment for £11 ... plus of course the money I spent on a couple of chicken burgers and several pints of beer.

Well, at 133/6 needing 251, I thought our chances of winning our opening 50 over match were looking slim, but hats off to our lower order especially Berg and McManus. It would be nice to follow that victory with home wins against Surrey and Essex this week. I see the Surrey match (Mon 2pm) is on Sky.

Insightful, no-pulling-punches, interview from Blackmore – he's a top bloke and excellent local football reporter, imo. Krueger is very good at presenting a polished PR spin; but, in fairness to him, I'm pretty happy with his responses. Only time and actions will tell us whether Saints have actually learnt from the experiences of the past two seasons.

Vince the second highest scorer in Division One this season: OUT. Butler raking in the money from the Indian Biff Bash: IN. What a slap in the face for the English County Championship.

I shall be annoyed if Hughes hasn't been given a contract by the end of the week.
-
If it was up to me I'd give Hughes a contract and throw in the freedom of the city for good measure.
-
Yes, absolutely agree with this
-
Yes, yes, yes we've done it, we've only gone and ****ing well done it!!!! Well done Mark Hughes!!! Brave substitutions. ****ing brilliant!!!!

It's been several years since I felt this uptight before a match. Probably Coventry last match of the season 2012.
-
Sadly, it's starting to look that way. We look solid enough on paper, but in reality we still seem pretty fragile, especially when under pressure. The absence of Northeast, Berg and Holland isn't helping in that respect. We really need a couple of our players to step up to the plate today.
-
Gutted at the manner in which lost the two points; but, as others have already said, we would have more than likely still needed to beat Swansea even if we'd won today. The important thing is that we got the point we needed to take us level on points with Swansea. A win on Tuesday should be enough for us, and I would have taken that scenario if offered it at any time over the last few months. Great credit to our away fans: your support came across loud and clear on the radio.

Loved the reaction of the manager, coaches, players and fans at the final whistle, especially the celebrations of Tadic and Austin. Channel that passion into the final fixtures and we might just do this.
-
If the rest of our squad displayed the same levels of commitment as Yoshida then we wouldn't be in this mess.

1/ The impotent, sterile and tedious playing style these past two seasons. 2/ The blatant transparency of players using our club as a stepping stone, with us fans paying a high price to finance these mercenary prima-donnas. 3/ The ridiculous, embarrassing and ultimately meaningless PR claptrap epitomised by that cringe-worthy 'My Way' song. Is it really any wonder our fans have become jaded?

By some distance that was the flattest I've ever known our fans to be at Wembley, which, I suppose, is hardly surprising considering our season. As for our performance: well, I don't think it was quite as bad as some on here are making out; but Long's miss, the disallowed goal, and Hoedt's 'defending' for their second just about sums up our miserable season.
-
Battled much harder than of late and looked pretty good going forward at times. Really liked the attitude, spirit and combativeness of Long and PEH in particular. At the end of day, though, it's zero points so probably just another nail in the ****ing coffin; but, having said that, I'm slightly more optimistic than I was last week.

Lemina is ill according to Sky
-
Yep, your post and the one to which you're replying pretty well sum up how I feel, except I would have got shot of VVD last summer. Either way, it's been an incredible decline from the position of strength we were in two years ago.
-
They're about to call time at the Last Chance Saloon, Les.
-
Three months too late; he should have gone after the 1-4 Leicester debacle.
-
There's really f uck all anyone can say after a performance like that.
-
I've previously been a supporter of Les Reed, but as the fella who is largely responsible for appointing the manager, making signings and overseeing the club's overall strategy, I hold him responsible for what I now fear is almost certainly our inevitable relegation.
-
Why do you think he has not been sacked yet?
Halo Stickman replied to Pilchards's topic in The Saints
Yeah, it seems to me that you are right about this; yet there's an ever-dwindling part of me that still finds it incredible that Reed & Co. would not have researched his playing style at previous clubs. Not to have done so displays a staggering complacency and incompetence on their part. -
What a thoroughly miserable day. We ain't staying up with pathetic performances like that.
-
Right now, it feels like the most important day of several seasons.
