It's the 'Continental model' which is commonplace in Serie A. They have Head Coaches not Managers. I've always felt, rightly or wrongly, that this is the model NC wanted to follow.

I believe that if, and when, we do get a new manager it will most likely be a Continental coach who will be familiar with the concept of being Head Coach and not Manager per se. He will be given a squad and not be involved in the player recruitment process.

...and breathe. You missed my point. I agree Fox is not good enough but he is shown to be even weaker due to lack of cover down the left. When I referred to our 'failure to strengthen in this area' I was meaning LB and not LM. Basically he's trying his best so what will we achieve by continually berating him? Diddly squat.

He gets little or no protection from those in front of him and as has been said many a player better than Fox would be exposed. The formation / lack of protection and our failure to strengthen in this area are not the fault of Fox.

The jury is out. There is little or no 'evidence' available to us mere mortals to make an informed decision yet a few take the approach that if they say it enough it must be fact. I am completely ambivalent towards Cortese. I know a few people connected with the club in very recent times and it's fair to say there is a mixed bag of opinion towards him both positive and negative. Maybe we got too far ahead of the 5 year plan, maybe he's not the man to take us forward but maybe he is. The reality is, despite the insistance of a few, none of us actually know.
