Why wouldn't they want him to 'run his contract down'? His 'value' is not like a player who enters his last year. The compensation for Koeman's services is being mentioned as c£2m. So that won't factor in the decision of the board. It will be more a question of whether they feel he will give his all to the club in the final year of his contract and whether any suitable candidates are available.

Neither are good enough. Hopefully this is a position we'll strengthen during the summer.

According to my tiny screen grab (above) from his twitter account he is in Dubai for treatment it would seem.

In the 9 games they've played since he joined them he's started once and had a couple of bit part substitute appearances up front. So he's hardly played for them the same as he hardly played for us.
