So, according to that site, our original kit wasn't red and white stripes, but red and white quarters (I never knew that!)... not sure I like that too much. http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Southampton/Southampton.htm

90 mins from Wembley...

I like the little round of applause the Farnborough right back gives.

OS says he wnet off with a knock. Anything serious, does anyone know?

The BBC website has a written article on this story for anyone who missed South Today. The last sentence mentions his trial at Saints. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/8141238.stm

OK then, here goes. From what I hear there's no need to panic. More going on than meets the eye with Pinnacle. Don't panic just yet.

That's a very important piece of information, Nick. Not being able to pay the wages will probably be the reason, ultimately, that we go under. Wasn't there a quote somewhere in the Echo, about payday being the 3rd Thurs in the month? Where did your new info. come from? Someone on the payroll at the club?

I know this is going to sound stupid, but I heard (from a friend of Lynam's) that the money was coming from either someone involved with RBS (I posted this a couple of weeks ago) or The National Bank of Abu Dhabi. Sorry, but I have no more information on this, and don't even know if it's accurate or not. Make of it what you will.

Was this the chap who wrote the song: Way, way back, many centuries ago; Not long after the takeover began; Rupert lived in the land of Southampton; A fine example of a smug little man. Rupert, Rupert and Wilde; Followed by some other gullible sheep; Rupert, Rupert and Wilde; Took from the fans to earn their keep.

An optimist would say "at least they're still talking"; a pessimist would say "if it was such a good bid they would have been able to conclude things by now". Pick your camp...

Too much of a fairy?

actually, forget that. The above Lynham is spelt with an H in the name. The other one hasn't...

Indeed! Although, according to this fairly random site he might now work for HSBC? http://www.spoke.com/info/pAhFSmj/PaulLynham Or is that some other banker going by the same name?

Ah, now that is interesting... A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine who is a businessman in the city told me that he had been talking to an associate of the Chief Exec of RBS. The information he passed on was that the guy was going to make a bid for the club. I can't reconcile these two bits of 'information', though, as according to the RBS site, the Chief Exec of RBS is called "Hester", not "Lynam". http://www.rbs.com/about-rbs/our-board.ashx probably rubbish then...

You're right, in that it's frustrating not knowing if there is an ultimate deadline or not. I remember when Coventry were about to go into administration they publicised an absolute deadline of 4pm on a specified date and if no injection of new cash had been seen by that date then they would have gone into admin. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/coventry_city/7139107.stm Could a similar tactic work when a company is already in administration?

Yes Chuz, what you say is correct. Fingers' crossed we can pay off the football and tax debts and then reach a deal with everyone else. As you say it's the local firms who supply goods and services like food and cleaning which will have to suffer the biggest hit. This could be a big sticking point, but I guess is where Mark Fry will earn his money.

Have a look at the Upjest squad at the bottom of that page no. 20 - Foxi no.15 - Kiss no.11 - Szeki (please let that be pronounced "sekzi") a team to watch, in my opinion...

Yes, that was my take on the formation too (except the strikers played the other way round?). The subsitutions were all well timed and appropriate too.
