Thing is Alps, what can we do to get players "on the bus", if a player doesn't want to come or a team refuse to sell what can you do? Fair enough you can spunk the cash but that has it's own drawbacks and pitfalls, ie new player coming in on higher wage, current top ranked players want same wage, leads to higher HMRC bills etc. etc. And then you've got to contned with injuries and suspensions and the chance of the big money signing not being "all that! I can pretty much guarentee that if we stay top 6 this season and don't get promoted then it will be a lot easier to get players next season (they'll want to come here as there is a better chance of playing in the land of milk and honey the season after). What can we do to contend with the parachute payments? **** all to be honest, especially with these new Financial Fair Play rules that are coming in. All we/NA/NC can do is make the club an attractive porpoistion for incoming players who aren't money orientated...

I think we had many problems over the summer because many of the targets that we went for were being gazumpped by Leicester and West Ham (and that was the squad players we wanted). The players that we really needed to improve the sqaud (Sharp, Maynard, Rodriguez etc) didn't want to come here or our bids were rebuked or they failed medicals. We did get Jos though but that was on the last day of the transfer window. I get as frustrated as the next person at the lack of transfer activity but I fail to see how spunking big money is going to guarentee anything (a la Leicester). We also have the looming Financial Fair Play rules coming to the fore, something NC wants to actively implement here so we just don't have the money to be able to do that (no matter how rich Marcus' estate may or may not be)

Maybe because he was hoping to make the move permanent. Anyway I'm sure the Barton (cock) and Colin incidents may have featured more prominently than anything he said!!
