  1. Thanks Wessex Saint. Just bought three tickets in the neutral area. Don't go to too many away games but went to Fulham Boxing Day last year. It was a really good day out, aided by a late Lambert penalty to make it 1-1. There is no segregation at Fulham, and all the supporters share the same turnstiles at the Putney End. But Fulham are a friendly bunch, if a little quiet. Should be a good day out again.
  2. A good three points in the bag against Cardiff. Everton should be an interesting game I feel. Howard is suspended so they'll have to make do with Robles who has two league appearances this season. Admittedly, we don't have Boruc, Wanyama or Schneiderlin but should have Osvaldo, Lovren and Clyne. COYR!!!
  3. Got the second book for Christmas. Fairly sure that it is Dave Kitson. The opening chapters talk about a failing club and players holding out for their back pay to be paid up. Got to be someone who played for our fishy friends down the road.
  4. Franny taking out Stuart Pearce at the Dell.
  5. I'm not going to argue with you. clearly neither of us are going to back down and it will just get silly. merry Christmas.
  6. Were you at the game? That's what happened.
  7. explain...
  8. I was at the Swansea game. Fox was a liability and Lovren and Boruc stopped passing to him just after half time as he kept giving the ball away. Agree about the number of changes. We can accommodate 1 change, but having both regular full backs, one CB and goalkepper out was always going to be tricky. What gets me is the media bigging up Adebayor yesterday. He had a good game was up against Fox, and was always going to win that one. Similar to the West Brom game last season when Lukako stood against Fox. I think that it just proved that our squad is not yet strong enough in all areas to break into the top 8, although the full strength team on their day can beat anyone.

    Danny Fox

Another abject performance. His positioning is dreadful. Adebayor stuck down the right for obvious reasons. But worse still he stopped playing mid way through the second half. Was down to walking pace and looked like he had simply given up. MP had little choice but to haul him off. Being poor is one thing, but not trying is simply unacceptable. I really don't want to see him ever again in a Saints shirt.
  10. We need another keeper. He was rooted to his line for the first goal. Got away with one in the second half when he was horribly slow off his line, spread himself and got lucky. Simply not good enough for the premier league
  11. Fonte is not fully fit and would not last 90 minutes. Hooiveld manages when we have a decent left back. But having Hooiveld, Fox and Gazzanigga was an accident waiting to happen. At least Hooiveld tries. Fox packed in mid way through the second half
  12. Disagree. Their defence vs. our defence. Gonna be 4 - 3 or something like that with Henri Camera scoring a last minute goal.
  13. Definitely agree mate. I too bought the sash and still where it to some saints games (when I'm not freezing my tits off). The thing with the sash was it was unique. No-one in league 1 (in the football league possibly) had a sash kit. And who wears all red? Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Cardiff and us. That's not even including the leagues below.
  14. just a joke at how commercialised football has now become. this and diving are the two things that are ruining the sport (plus a couple of other things that I'm sure people will inform me about).
  15. A sensible solution would be to make say a third of the stadium safe standing and the rest seating or a proportion like that. clearly the whole stadium standing would be problematic (e.g. kids, elderly, those who like their own personal space) but I agree. Racist chanting has fallen dramatically since the 80s. Crowd behaviour, on the whole, is much better, safer and open to more people.
  16. didn't realise **** is now a swear word. what a load of ********
  17. this literally takes the ****. you're effectively paying an extra 12 pounds for aap3 and the saints logo on it. **** take
  18. at least you get the phone case. if it was the skates you pay the 10 pounds and they've entered administration before Christmas
  19. who Eastleigh?
  20. I believe fielding an illegible player removes three points if you really wanted to be anal. Now is it possible?
  21. 40K for QPR does seem a touch unrealistic. An SMS size stadium would be more realistic and provide the facilities that Loftus Road doesn't have. It would be cheaper to build as well. It's all very well having grand plans, but these things need to be funded. When Saints moved from the Dell, they got the capacity wrong. Planning permission for Stoneham was 25K. The thought with SMS was that it would only be filled 6-7 times per season as the Kraken points out. However, we ended up averaging over 30K for all the seasons that we have been in the Premier League. In hindsight, SMS should have been around 35-36K, and it's why we keep on having threads about extending it.
  22. To think that we could have played Shaw, Chambers and Ward-Prowse.
  23. Dave Merrington had a huge influence on the youth policy in the late eighties/early nineties. It dipped after he became manager and then left in 96. It wasn't until Strachan became manager and flagged his concern about the youth policy that Rupert did anything about it. To be fair it was then put on a better footing and has been built on in recent years. We are on a roll. Saints now has a reputation for being a well run club and giving youth a chance. Parents will want to get their kids involved with Saints.
