The youth players aquitted themselves very well yesterday... Shaw and Chambers in the first game against a usefull Anderlecht team.Ward-Prowse and Stephens against Arsenal ..albeit a reserve Arsenal side:rolleyes: Although around the 17/18 age group they did not look out of place......break through for one or two and all developing into first team players without a doubt sooner than later...

Pompey should have played Havant yesterday afternoon...Pre season friendly with 8/9 youngsters lined up to play... Including that millionaire to be when he gets his wages TBH The ground has new drainage and although a lot of rain the game should have gone ahead. The official press release from friendly press will be the ground was unfit to play. Havant did not want to ruin the pitch for later bigger and better opposition......ORLY.....Netley Central , Sholing , Totton , Millbrook and Shirley OB Pompey could not put out a team.... Mannone..Arsenal ? Dawlish Town are not interested in taking our Tommy as a reserve GK....Not football league standard... I was impressed with Stephens , Ward-Prowse, Shaw and Chambers...Potential is obviously there and we will be seeing a lot more of these lads. Anderlecht showed that they were at least 4 weeks ahead in training and match play.. Arsenal had a lot of youngsters and a few experienced players...and both Saints games were training games. Reality of what was on display and what will come in training and friendly games... Lots more to come from the mighty Saints. WIFM Sorry should be on other thread... Accept Mannone in GK backup... Jemmal looked very good ...but looks more a Left Back or left side of three at the back... A good left peg with pace and a good reading of the game as per the old sweeper. Tackles are generally good but not a dominant centre half type ..winning headers.. Would he have been good for the mighty Saints?.....Will we ever find out?
