I understand we have a one year extension clause in his contract, so could action that and kick the can down the road, hoping he shows form. Think it’s clear the preference is to get rid this window though.

Signing both Rudoni and Spertysan would be pretty impressive! Just can’t see Fernandes staying unfortunately, would LOVE to be proven wrong on that.

To summarise whats going on at the moment then, to get us back onto the transfers path: Incomings: Rumour on the Ugly Inside from someone who has previously shared news and been right, suggesting we are close to finalising 3 loan signings, absolutely no leaks at all on who they might be but a right back has been mentioned. Will Still has alluded to a new keeper coming in, most likely 2nd/3rd choice to challenge Bazunu rather than immediately replace. Eduard Spertysan - sounds like the player is keen, the club are deciding if they are happy to sell for the price we have reportedly offered of €12.5m. Lots of ‘talk’ and likely waiting to see if anyone bigger comes along before final decisions are made. Outgoings: Charlie Taylor -Boro have been linked with Charlie but Will keeps praising how good a guy he is. Norwich have also been linked earlier this window. Aribo - has interest from Villarreal and Besiktas and is separated from the first team Fernandes - WHU bidding £30m for Fernandes’ hair. Surely it will need to be closer to £50m? Usual fluff that Prowsey might be part of the deal, we cannot pay his wages in the champ. Dibling - Everton have Grealish coming in on loan and look to be pursuing Fatawu from Leicester after we couldn’t agree a fee. Spurs going for Savinho and Eze, I’m not sure who’s paying our valuation? Is Newcastle still a possibility? Edozie - Imminently deciding on either Strasbourg or Club Brugge. Although only Strasbourg have met our fee to date. Smallbone - we think he might be off as not suited to Still but tonight might give us an indication, unless he is still feeling an injury.

Let’s see if he can continue this recent form from preseason and the Wrexham game, too small a sample size atm. Would be great for us if it just clicked, might need to extend his contract if it does. Early days for now though, I’m still not convinced he’s the answer mid-long term.

Agree. If he did come back from loan and did well at PL level, we might be in a position where we lost him this summer. Instead we have a better version of him ready to go and be one of our best players this season. Let’s hope we can get him to sign an extension now. He was great on Saturday, seemed to find that forward pass time and again and made himself time on the ball when he needed to. Very clever player. His diagonal ball to start the move for the winner showed a different side to his game, I hadn’t seen any of his long range passing in Martin ball.

Just about to set off from up north, please make the 9 hour round trip worthwhile Saints! 😇

Shea Charles must be top of the list with 2 years left. I’m discounting Dibling as he won’t sign one. -

Highlights were the guy asking why he doesn’t get a pin badge anymore and Parsons mocking anyone that would buy a Pompey shirt at £60 to make our £65 shirts look good value. -
I wonder what value our bid was?
-
Pre-agreed obligation to buy from January window. Out of Still’s control unfortunately.

Very reliable local journo.

Sadly nothing given away in post match interviews I have heard. You’d like to think that there is plenty going on behind the scenes!

Matty - ‘ill’ and has not trained last few days Downes - still getting over his injury, hoping he trains this week BBD - locked hip, didn’t want to risk it Dibling - played 60 mins on his return from injury in the behind closed doors game that morning THB - not mentioned as we know he’s recovering from his surgery. Expected back 2nd week of August I think Smallbone - journos said picked up an injury but not discussed by Still. Aribo - Not mentioned, perhaps discussing an exit? Edozie - not mentioned, we know he’s close to leaving

I’ve started watching this and did wonder the same. When they bought Birmingham though, we were technically a championship team already. Appreciate negotiations for that club will have started whilst we were a PL team. I’d also guess Sheffield United was the one. I did google but nothing online about that attempt. Davies comes across very well, impressive bloke. Rooney appeared to be winging it! Eustace sacking was ridiculous before the implosion. They will be up there with us this season for sure. I wonder what happens if they don’t reach the PL in the next couple of seasons, PSR must come into the equation soon.

With or without Stephen’s extension, he would be staying for this season and be club captain. So the dilemma of if he’s a starter would remain. We still can’t rule out that his extension reduces his wages but covers a longer term, which would suit all parties. Spors two new incomings look to be new profiles for low fees and early indications are positive on their quality. I would judge our recruitment on incomings, rather than keeping a loyal player around potentially on wages that are lower but for longer - that won’t be what defines our season. Agree there’s still lots to do, but let’s give Spors his first full window to give some confidence we are going in the right direction.

Let’s not repeat the trick, we have a derby to win!

Don’t get the outrage at loaning Ramsdale, it provides us with a possibility of having him back should we bounce straight back. Either he does well and we get a fee next summer or he returns. The ideal situation is we go up and he returns. In the meantime we are getting his wages paid and £4m which works out as a breakeven whilst we figure out where we will be. It does pose a challenge for this season, let’s judge that when the window has closed and we know who our number 1 is.
