Adkins just on solent saying Connolly had a scan in the week on a hip problem, and Barnard's got a problem as well... We are seriously thin on the striker front.

Welcome St.Nigel. Very pleased this has all be concluded. We've totally lost our way and need some leadership & guidance to get us back firing again. Nigel comes across as focused, intelligent and with a track record of playing good football. I'm going to be 100% behind him. Fingers crossed he can work a bit of magic in the loan market. Agreed - I remember it well. Pards just kind of made total sense when you thought about it (Prem experience, plus championship/league promotion under his belt - he ticked all the boxes) But the general concenus when he was 1st appointed was disappointment... The same as when WGS got the job back in the day (Both of course had relegations to their names when appointed, I think)

Brown is very much in the Pardew mold - I'm expecting a different type of manager. Gotta love how the echo said this morning it's a "young, english, up and coming manager", and SSN are saying "European" My feeling is that it'll be someone with a rep for playing attractive football.

I'd rather not have someone who has no clue about League 1 - Adkins or Howe would be fine by me.

Perception of managers is interesting. I thought of this recently when a mate asked about whether we should Ince as manager and I was instantly saying "No f*cking way!" - And yet, not so long ago, this was the guy who did so well he got a prem job, and it all went pear-shaped for him. Pards' rep was pretty damaged when he joined us too - Wasn't he interviewed for the Yeovil job prior to joining us? It's crazy how things can turn so quickly.

Harsh. Wigley is a great coach, but was NEVER supposed to be a manager.

There is just something about him that makes him stand out IMO. It's too soon to tell how good he could be, be what's he's done with the Cherries is a minor miracle. I'd gladly welcome him aboard, however, I hope they aren't just going for him because they percieve him to be a push-over.

The committee has been around at saints for a little while though. When was the last Solent Forum? I remember Cortese saying then that all transfers are discussed between various people before they sign them - Maybe since Reed has joined Pards had less of a say? Who knows. Maybe he got more p*ssed off that some of his recommendations weren’t being accepted?

Mowbray is the best realistic option I've heard... Purely on his track record with promotions AND his style play. If this "will eventually be known as the southampton style" stuff is true, then there isn't a chance we'll get there with 90% of the names mentioned.
