FIFA rule protects Lambert & Hammond from leaving
SuperSAINT replied to Master Bates's topic in The Saints
Fabian Delph - Formally of Leeds, once a shining light of a midfielder in this league, now a regular in the Villa reserves. Great move for all parties. (Except Leeds, Delph, and Villa ) -
Very good point. I honestly think Leeds would laugh at us if we bid 2 million for Beckford. 1.5 million would probably be enough to land Jackson.
-
Simon Grayson's take on the Beckford scenario:-
-
Only if we offer silly money in January. It would be the biggest statement of intent we could possibly make, though! Wouldn't suprise me to see Leeds look at signing Jackson as a straight replacement for him.
-
He'd be great in this league. He's started today for them though. Think the transfer listing was due to a bust-up with Magilton, so I guess he's staying with them, for now.
-
God, I wanted an early night tonight. Then THAT happened! I was jumping around the house like a un-tamed baboon!! SUPERB SAINTS. SUPERB!
-
Pards said after the game on saturday, that Rickie has just about the hardest of shot of anyone he's ever seen.
-
I can't actually believe that Nicholls is still at Luton! - He was a TOP player a couple of years ago. Speaking of top players, did anyone catch Simeone Jackson's goal against Huddersfield on saturday? Top finish. Sign him up.

S-Clarke's scouting of Racon has not gone un-noticed by the big-boys.... http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_5764417,00.html

He scored today, and Jeff Stelling I think said he's scored 5 in his last 5. He would've been a great shout though. Was up there with Lambo & Beckford at the top of the scoring charts last season. I'm still on the Jackson bandwagon, though.

Great result. I think after the last game, we were saying that this would be a real tough game, and we've done it in real style, by all accounts. We really seem to be able to put teams away on our travels. I'm not getting carried away yet, but the table is looking MUCH better now. (Important for potential players to see that we're climbing the table for the window too, I feel). So onwards we go, by the end of December, if we can be within 6 points of the play-off's, I'll be well chuffed.

Let's start from the back. Certainly, if Trotman goes (which is likely, due to Perry & Thomas getting recent run-out's) we'll need to get someone to fill the gap there, I'm unsure what i'd do with Mellis. I think he's best suited to our 4-5-1 formation, but only if Morgan or Hammond are injured. Certainly a new defensive midfielder would be on my shopping list. What kind of striker is Pitman? Simeon Jackson would get my vote. He's like the Defoe of league 1 from what i've seen.
-
Nice to hear he's enjoying his football with us. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1894481,00.html

I saw that the other day. It's quite incredible to think that Lallana has scored as many goals as some of the league's best strikers, from midfield.
-
Yeah, I hate those £1m signings, who come in and end up as the leagues leading goal scorer!
-
Beckford would've cost small fortune. I'll side with S-Clarke on this one. How's Craddock been doing this year? I'd still quite like to have a try and getting Simeon Jackson onboard. Really quick & nippy and would probably score goals in the CCC too.
-
Yes, awesome signing. Wonder who the 'younger' striker was that Pards had lined up before he went for Rickie?

Saints vs Rotherham or Luton - 3rd Round Draw Thread
SuperSAINT replied to Arizona's topic in The Saints
Good draw. I just wanted a home-draw. I'm guessing we'll get Rotheram, and they boast the top scorer of League 2, in Adam Le Fondre. Tricky, but winnable game. -
Agreed. Lambert is much more adept at playing as a lone striker though. They would make for a superb partnership IMO.
-
Trotman - is he as good as we first thought?
SuperSAINT replied to wessex saint's topic in The Saints
I think he's having a slight dip, because you have to remember, he's still quite young and he hasn't played consistently for quite a long time. But now isn't the time to start grilling him. Don't forget, before we signed him, I was literally holding my breath at EVERY single cross & set piece that went into our box! We'd be weaker without him at this level, IMO. -
Cheers for the reports. Where's Navyred gone? His youth reports used to be fantastic.
-
Spot on! I had Gillet & Holmes pencilled down as "must keep" when last season's debacle ended.
-
I could see us perhaps making a move for him if Morgan kicks up a fuss about leaving again in January.
-
I loved Le Tiss' goal in this game. Always thought it was quite underrated. He did a hell of a lot in a very small amount of time & space.

Players that shouldn't have left Saints.....
SuperSAINT replied to Danish Saint's topic in The Saints
I agree totally. He used to own the left hand side of St Mary's at times. He was a joy to watch. Too much, too soon.
