It's going to be insane. I can't wait. Their pace will cause us problems. We're a squad built for league 1. We're going to have to really on being physical and bullying them off the ball.
-
Yes, we should be beating Exeter, but this (IMO) was bad timing for Cortese to come out with the statement that he did. I knew something was up in the Guardian piece, with the 5 year, being replaced by a 3 year plan. Yes, we should be doing better than we are, but I don't want us to become another QPR-esque laughing stock.

MK Dons Build Up Thread - It's a sell-out, folks!
SuperSAINT replied to Saintjersey's topic in The Saints
+1. Papa & Lambert are just about the only strikers we've got available at present, I think. -
The bench is incredibly strong today, too. Bart, Harding, Thomas, Wotton, Holmes, Antonio, Barnard. Proves how strong we are when Jaidi / Perry aren't even included & Connolly / Hammond are injured! Our squad has some serious depth.
-
On paper, that team should be able to be able to dictate play better than any other XI we've picked this season.

I miss our patented 3-1 away victories...

Tommac as well? I remember Jackson, but can't remember the exact details of 'Barry the briefcase' or 'Help me Rhonda'. Wern't they busted by people digging on this forum?

Should Saints sign Papa Waigo & Antonio?
SuperSAINT replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
I think we'll sign Antonio, and not Papa. The one thing we know Papa provides is pace. But the transfer fee and wages for him would be pretty high for someone who can't force their way into the 1st XI. With that leaving a lack of pace up front, maybe we'll go for Simeon Jackson in the summer? - He'll only have 12 months on his Gillingham contract by then. -
Not entirely sure if Warnock is responding to an offer that's been rejected or not? Coupled with Pards saying we're not signing anyone else, I'm not sure if there's legs in this deal I saw his goals yesterday and they were both absolute quality. He would be an absolute top-draw signing us.

Good question.... Might be skipping a couple here, but I'd say Bridge? Arguments could perhaps be made for Ifil from Spurs who we had on loan. Nice write up. I think you raise some good points there, but I think you really hit the nail on the head with the last bit about us missing Hammond. I don't think it's a coincidence that we've struggled without him. Barnard will come good, he scored too many goals at Southend not too. I wonder if we chose Seabourne over Ward just for his aerial ability. I wonder if we felt Ward was too similar to Fonte?

1st time I can ever recall us having such a strong back four (on the bench!)
-
Money talks. The administrators aren't interested in who Warnock wants to keep. I don't see that as an issue.
-
Hope so. There's room for both. Especially when you consider our right-hand side might need some reconstruction. (I imagine we'll sign Antonio, and not sign Papa)
-
Nice to have some financial security isn't it?

Adam Johnson wants to talk to Man City.... Wonder if Boro will come calling for Lallana as his replacement?

Jason Puncheon to Saints according to SSN
SuperSAINT replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Superb signing Saints!! Certainly never saw this coming (This season anyway ) TOP player at this level. Scores goals, creates, good left foot on corners and especially free-kicks (Will have to fight Lambo for those though). Wow, I wonder if that's it for signings? Or if he's considered the 'playmaker' we've been after? Props to Bailey on here who said 5 players would be coming in this window! -
It's a tricky one. Pards seems reluctant to play Papa up there, and Connolly's groin injury is causing me some concern. Can't see us bringing in another one, but if we get another injury, we'll be struggling up top.
-
Papa is still why we're in the JPT! I have a feeling we'll need him before the season is out.
-
Ha ha! - No, I read previously that he'd just returned back from a loan deal with Brentford. (Plus I should've read what others before me had posted!)
-
Wonder if John Bostock might come in on loan from Spurs? He's been at Brentford for a while, and just returned from a loan spell. Not sure how he's developed, but he used to be considered a hell of a prospect. (I always used to poach him and Moses on the old Football manager!)
-
Sad day for them though. I remember how I felt on the day we went into admin.
-
We could (just about) field 3 teams. (Granted, I've had to dig deep into the reserves for it!) It's going to be so important with all the games we've got coming up. The pleasing thing for me over the last couple of cup games is that we've had the fringe players coming in and doing a really solid job for us. Gives me plenty of optmisim for the rotation that's bound to happen. ---------------------Davis ---------------------Bart -------------------Forecast Murty---------Fonte-------Jaidi---------Harding Otsemobor----Perry-----Seaborne-------Mills Thomas-----Lancashire---Martin------Molyneux Antonio----Hammond----Schniederlin----Lallana Waigo------Wotton---------James--------Holmes Thomson----Gillett---------McNish-------Gobern ------------Barnard------Lambert ------------Connolly-------Saga -----------McClaggon-----White

He's brilliant. A pure Southampton man (From the North)

Really happy for him. Always rated him, and I'm really pleased he's gotten the opportunity, and taken it.
