  1. Interesting little article on two fronts one that a team like Wolves are spending almost PL levels of money in the Championship and two what a horrible **** up Chinese owners have made of A/C Milan spending cash they didn't really have Why Wolves' link with £34million AC Milan striker Andre Silva isn't a major shock - it is merely the new normal https://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/news/why-wolves-link-with-%C2%A334million-ac-milan-striker-andre-silva-isnt-a-major-shock-it-is-merely-the-new-normal/ar-BBIaGdr?li=AAmiR2Z&ocid=spartandhp
  2. some places... pretty patchy form over the years 17 in 32 for man city 2012-2013 4 in 28 for Liverpool 2014-2015 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_Balotelli
  3. If it was the latter then it would, I assume, be a planned move some weeks in the making. So I'd like to think that the club would have had players lined up to go, as soon as the window opened, especially given the clubs constant harping on about succession management. That doesn't seem to be the case though.
  4. We'll yeah in hindsight had we known they'd flog him in Jan to Liverpool anyway. Most of us would have said get rid last summer.
  5. I doubt that. A few, mostly in hindsight, saying it now. But the overall feeling you got from saints fans, last summer, was not to sell him especially to Liverpool.
  6. Quique Sanchez Flores: Stoke interested in ex-Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores is under consideration to succeed Mark Hughes as manager of Stoke City. The former Watford manager, 52, is currently in charge of Espanyol and BBC Sport understands he is one of several candidates Stoke are looking at. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42632034
  7. Another gem from the city of Lolpool got to be a new excuse for losing your star player Romelu Lukaku: Man United striker to take legal advice over voodoo claim. Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku is to seek legal advice over claims made by Everton owner Farhad Moshiri that he opted to leave the club after receiving a "voodoo message". Moshiri told a shareholders' meeting that Lukaku, 24, received the message "on a pilgrimage to Africa". http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42630016
  8. so would I..... Might see a record number of own goals at Fratton during my contract though
  9. Yeah Lemina and Wes were not bad additions to the squad but Austin is our only natural goal scorer and he can't seemingly manage a whole season so we ****ed up there.
  10. I'm not particularly supportive of MoPe but this is an interesting little article on why sticking with a manager is sometimes worthwhile. As Lee Johnson's Bristol City lost a club-record eighth straight league game in front of 'Johnson out' banners in January 2017, the idea of him avoiding the sack was, to some, even more far-fetched than the Robins dumping Manchester United out of the cup. Just 12 months, one death threat, one relegation battle and four impressive wins over top-flight sides later, he will lead Bristol City into their first major semi-final for 29 years against Premier League leaders Manchester City on Tuesday. So how did the 36-year-old go from calls to be sacked - twice in his career - to be heralded as one of England's finest young coaches? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42580152
  11. That's the thing about the championship ( and league 1-2) at the start of the season you can't really call it every season it's some different team that wins the PL top 6 are pretty much nailed on almost every season.
  12. No we will get someone in probably not anyone the fans want but we will clearly bring someone in the whole point of selling Van Dickhead was to free up funds for bringing in reinforcements. Though listening to Adam blackmore on solent the other day we've got more like 40 million to spend rather than the head line 75 million.
  13. the problem is he needs to go from "might" change a game to actually changing a game. I was kind of expecting him to give Championship players a really torrid time if I'm honest.
  14. I'm still waiting for him to be the match winning, game changer of a player people keeping promising he is........
  15. the premier league official stats have us down as missing 34 "big chances" last season https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/clubs/big_chance_missed?se=54 So far this season they reckon we've missed 21 "big chances" https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/clubs/big_chance_missed?se=79 So I reckon over the whole of this season it will be about the same number of big misses over both seasons. The over ridding theme of the last two season seems to be, regardless of manager, the attacking players in the squad just aren't doing enough with the chances they do get. This season we seem to have coupled that with being a shambles at the back which is a toxic combination.
  16. Our conversion rate of shots to goals is poor again this season (not quite as bad as last season this time we are only 4th from bottom rather than bottom) interesting that Leicester have the best conversion rate in the league (could it be the difference between a good manager and a bad one is having effective strikers..) http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/chancenverwertung/wettbewerb/GB1/saison_id/2017/plus/1
  17. an excellent way to describe the current squad...
  18. Yeah but look were Burnley are in the league the difference is they can defend and keep clean sheets and as a result are flying high this season. you don't need lots of chances to do well but you need to take the ones you do get which we don't.
  19. Dave Merrington was biging him up on the Radio saying he was making the sort of runs that have been missing recently with Tadic.
  20. According to Solent Hoedt is still unfit from his concussion at Man U and Lemina doesn't seem to have recaptured his form since injury (plus everyone is demanding Hoj play every game now anyway)
  21. Just to put that in context we have had exactly the same number of attempts on target as Burnley 72 and more than Everton or Watford https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/clubs/ontarget_scoring_att?se=79
  22. well maybe not Stokes board...
  23. What's this strange feeling....oh this is what winning feels like.. Well a win is a win maybe it will give the players a much needed boost. Having said that it wasn't exactly convincing.
  24. If we use the VVD money to buy a striker who actually scores goals and a free scoring AM then I don't care if VVD makes love to the Liverpool shirt in the centre circle of the Anfield pitch.
  25. wonder how he is feeling about Mohamed Salah stealing all his thunder at Liverpool and now being named African player of the year...
