At what point did I say never buy a player? My point is that already people are calling for replacements becuase players aren't good enough, just like they did last summer, before those players have even kicked a ball in the PL. It turned out most of the forum experts on here where wrong last summer and most of the players were actual good enough. How many posters reckoned Lambert wasn't up to it last summer? . The main strength of this saints side is they are a team that plays for each other and are actually glad to be here... compare that to the shower that got us relegated from the PL with no spirit, intrest or fight. There is no need for wholesale replacements 5 of our strongest 11 is nearly 50 % replacement of our first 11 that will do wonders for the team spirit. Out of the three teams who went up last season which one spunked the most cash on new players and which has the lowest table postion...............Most people on here just want the club to spend for the sake of spending or they just cry through every transfer window..
-
So you don't like him becuase he is popular with saints fans...........................
-
We're not talking about replacing squad players though, who should if the chaiman is taken at his word by replaced by up coming youth talent, people are talking about replacing established first teamers. See the Danny fox thread for a poster claiming our whole back 5 need replacing for the PL. Plenty of threads last summer about how many of our players weren't good enough for the championship. There will be plenty more threads like this if we do get promoted stating how many of our players aren't good enough before they've even kicked a ball in the PL.

Yeah I knew there would be people with that point of view which is perfectly valid. Personally however I think the team spirit we've built up the last few seasons will do us more good in the PL than a mass cull and bringing a load of over priced over hyped named players....
-
Yeah best player against an opostion team that would struggle in league one by the looks of it....
-
Maybe you're right but when I look at the likes of Jack Cork, Rickie Lambert, Dean Hammond and Chaplow who all came in for less than a Million not to mention Harding (for nothing) 1.8 million seems a hell of a lot for a player.
-
Did you catch Harding f ucking your misses or some thing? I don't know why but you've had it in for Harding since ptretty much day one. Is Harding the best left back in the world? of course he ain't but I've never seen him give less than a 100% and he has made enough of a contribution to the club to warrant a bit more respect than the sh it you give him.

That he drives me nuts the amount of space he gives the oppostion some times. As Fox takes most of our free kicks and corners you can see where his assits come from the third goal on saturday was one of the few times he has got forward with any purpose. I still think for 1.8 million he is not that great.

If I'm honest (and I'll reckon I'll get shot down for saying so) one of the best things about the current squad is they're a team, they and the fans have been together on a journey from league one on minus 10 to top of the championship (via a winning cup final) and I feel more affection(not sure if that's quite the right way to put it) for this bunch of players than I have in many years. That being the case I don't want to see us drop loads of money on lots of new players if we get back to the PL I rather see the current players get a good crack at it (even if it means coming back down to the championship).

bit early yet....
-
I like Lamberts little bit pre match "We're second with half a season gone you couldn't ask for better than that"........................erm what about being first Rickie?
-
I've noticed that people seem to leave early if we're losing or winning really well. It's like they figure the game is all sewed up so might as well get to the car early. Personally after a great performance like that I want to clap the players off. It's worth staying to the end just to see Jos and his demented thumbs up sign
-
I'll be honest I thought he'd do better this time out...very much a player who is all about hard work rather than silky skills. Then again maybe Posh just played to his strengths and Brighton don't.
-
I think everyone agrees Jos and Jose are our strongest pairing but I'm never worried if Aaron has to come on in place of one of them as he is still a damn good defender.
-
Not as funny as Steve Claridge (super Skate) giving the full run down on why pompey are in trouble and pretty much confirming he comes to SMS most home games.
-
Away from goal? hardly....even Paul jewell reckoned that it should of probably been a red
-
Not southampton but that was some brave defending by the Burnley defender sticking his head in the way while laying on the ground. I'd be spitting bullets if I were a Cardiff fan that the Ipswich keeper stayed on the pitch after that challenge.
-
He didn't pull any punches talking about the skates did he? I think he's a closet saints fan you know............
-
I'd like Coventry to stay up.......I feel sorry for them their club seems to be dying from a death by a thousand cuts thanks to the ****s in charge. Always felt Coventry and Southampton are quite similar clubs.
-
There was a very noticable attempt at keeping OWTS slow today a few times people tried to speed it up and the Northam kept it slow.....fair play I thought
-
Good atmosphere today very supportive stuff......I like that we've started playing "Another one bites the dust" by Queen at the end of games to....
-
I think we all got it...but I reckon the Derby Fans were scratching their heads wondering what the hell we were talking about...... I remember some poster on KUMB complaining after the visit of WHU that we kept singing "we're coming for you.." that he waited after the game and no saints fans came
-
Inappropriate behaviour at away fixtures

Wasn't there some trouble at the WHU game? Maybe it was aimed at Billy Sharp:) -
Right having had the chance to see Sharp a couple of times I'm impressed with his movement and postioning. He gets in to dangerous postions which is half the battle for a striker. However watching him today he looks awfully slow and off the pace, seemed to get beaten to the ball quite a few times by Derby defenders, and just looks knackered after a short time. Does anyone else think that the fitness trainning at Donny might not be up to Nigels exacting standards? I'm hoping the saints back room staff can work their magic with Billy like they have with Lambert becuase I reckon if we can find Billy an extra yard of pace he will be one hell of a player. In the mean time Lee looks sh it hot to...
