Other than Man city how many clubs have loads of quaility in depth? I'm guessing very few. Any team that loses to many first team players to injuries and suspensions will struggle sometimes you need a bit of luck on top of everything else. There is no doubt we've hit a dodgy patch but it was always going to happen, most people thought we'd be mid table this season now we've been top for a while they seem to think we should be winning every game ripping the league up. This is were Nigel earns his money at the moment I have faith he'll find a way (and if he doesn't I never wanted to be back to the PL anyway). There's no doubt some extra players would help the squad but they have to be top quaility players not a load of squad players/back up players or PL has beens. That's where the problem lays good players cost money (more so in January than the summer) and we have a chairman, who quite rightly, won't gamble with the clubs financial future by overspending on players. It's a hard balancing act the right players at the right price.

I can see two teams trying to lose this game to concentrate on the league (different ends of it mind) I think both teams will reckon they could probably do without the extra games or distraction of the cup...........

Were you expecting us to run away with the league? we had a great run but there was no way a side straight up from league one was going to power it's way staright into the prem while staying top of the league all season. We're having a wobble there is no doubt (yet somehow we're still top of the league). We've still only lost once at home this season... so we just need to stay in around the top four and hope for a strong finish.

Right I only have the radio to go by but my take is we played well in the first half but just like against bristol city we didn't put our chances away. We should have been a couple in front by half time which might have made all the difference. At least two players blasted over when it should have been easier to score (Guly and Cork) The difference between 1st and 2nd half (other tham Lambert being sent off) was Harding/Lallana were probably the two most spoken names on the radio 1st half after Harding went off for Fox Lallana was barely mentioned again. Might be a coincidcence but I can't help feeling Adam is happier playing with Harding. Seems to me that we should of tried for a 0-0 after Lambert went off by closing up shop but we didn't and got punished by the extra man. Well and truly in a wobble now. Just got to try and stay in around the top four while our form is wobbbling. Then a couple of quaility players and a few back from injury and we can put in another good run. I mean did anyone expect us to stay top all season?

Honestly the setiment is good.......but this message board is really no different to pretty much every message board I've gone on. It doesn't matter whether it's football,woodworking,model making, politics or music the internet has a way of turnning people into someone they aren't really like in real life ....internet warriors abound in this day and age. As for saints people deal with the good and the bad in different ways. As you say were all saints fans (and want the best for the club) and it would be nice if we all got along.....but lets face it's never going to happen...if you want sweetness and light (and good reasoned debate) all the time the internet isn't the place to look for it.

He has already said this season was going to be his last and that he wants to get into coaching (in preperation to becoming manager of his home country one day). By all accounts he played a big part in the team spirit last season and was a good guy to have around the place so prehaps he the club might let him stay and train as a coach. If he can get fit for the second half of the season he will be great cover at CB he isn't quick but his experince often makes up for that and quite frankly I haven't seen anyone clear the ball with their head this season like Jiadi can. If the oppostion play with a large bully of a Centre forward like Carew or Henderson Jaidi is perfect to play against them up against someone like Manyard he'd be skinned it's horses for courses really.

No we don't.... we need good players where ever they come from washed up old PL has beens and champoinship journey men are not what we need. Jos has no PL/champ experince, neither does Lambert(up until now) both look pretty good to me. It's about getting players N/A and the coaches can work with and fit in to the team......not about names that will appease the fans becuase they look good on FIFA 12....

Sorry I'm just trying to enjoy the moment rather than face the "facts" that we will be awful for the second half of the season while all the teams around us will all be amazing..................I really don't know what people want if you can't enjoy being a saints fan at the moment when will you? If we do get back to the PL you can expect a lot more days feeling fed up after a losing than you have done the last two/three seasons so you might as well enjoy this season while you can (who knows when we might get another like it) rather than looking for the negatives all the time......

So was Adomah's in the main thought they look much of a much both SDR and Adomah have pace and skill to get in dangerous postions both didn't put enough quaility balls at at the end of it

Interesting...... personally thought Martin played very well hardly looked troubled and the perfectly timed sliding tackle on Adomah in the first half was a joy to watch. Maynard was very uninspiring wouldn't swap him for Connolly on tonights showing TBH. Adomah looked good though not better the De Ridder on tonights showing both having good feet and speed but disappointing end product.

Swings and roundabouts you could argue he needs to look up and see where his team mates are before blindly wacking it in. Don't get me wrong I liked what I saw from Steve tonight just seemed to me he undid a lot of his own hard work by not putting in a effective final ball.

Bristol where solid but not great (certainaly not better than saints) you have to give credit to their defending though they where throwing bodies on the line all game and getting men behind the ball all the time. The net result was there always seemed to be a Brizzle head,leg or arse in the way to cut out crosses or block shots. I can't help thinking Connolly (or better still if he weren't injuried Barney) would have been a better option in tonights games the sort of striker he will poke a lose ball over the line or dig out a shot from a mass of players.

I thought Steve was bloody frustrating. Clearly he has some talent he does all the hard work getting into dangerous postions with skill and speed then the final ball (the one that should lead to a goal or at least a shooting chance) is really poor.

I was just thinking what a good post and then I read that. Personally thought Morgan was very good tonight Hammond offered very little when he came on (and I'm a big fan of Deans normally)

From were I was sat we were the better team tonight Brizzle offered very little and tried to hit us on the break with their speed (of which they seemed to have plenty). What we weren't very good at tonight was finishing the final ball was poor all night coupled with Brizzle defending in numbers meant whena saints player did get the ball in the area they couldn't seem to fashion a clear chance through the mass of yellow shirts. Didn't help that Lallana looked way off his best (has done ever since he got injuried), that Lambert was beaten black and blue all night (seemingly unnoticed by the blind ref) amd the ref seemed determined to break up the flow of the game to Bristol city's advantage. No lack of effort from the boys just needed better finishing IMO

I love the way the BBC can show eastenders with story lines about rape, wife beating, sex and drug abuse etc etc at 7.30 in the evening (before the watershed) all tastefully dressed up as bring issues to the public attention ("have you been affected by tonights episode? call this number...") Yet something like this after the watershed is cut.... I heard the other day 400+ people complained about the phones4u advert (shown after the watershed) becuase it was scary ......

How can that be I've been told on here numerous times Barney isn't very good and based on 45 mins of sub apperances isn't good enough to play in the championship..................
