  1. Surely you'd have to be on the bus to get off at the next stop.........
  2. Does anyone know what actually happened with Puncheon? I have heard all the vague rumours about trainning ground punch ups I just wonder if anyone has the actual low down on what happened?
  3. No it doesn't getting results on the pitch makes him less likely to get sacked HTBH
  4. Oh god I hadn't thought of that
  5. I'm not saying I'm not happy about it. I'm just bemused that people think that Nigel having a contract is any different to any of the other managers who have had contracts with us, the contract doesn't provide stability the results on the pitch do. If were bottom of the champ at christmas next season (I don't think we will be be but if) than Nigels contract won't be any more useful to him than all the other contracts prevoius manager have had. It's the same at all football clubs as long as the manager meets the chairmans asppirations he has a job for life as soon as he stops meeting them.......
  6. apparently not....... if this place is anything to go by these days
  7. Didn't all our other managers have contracts as well then? Stability is built on results not contracts (which generally aren't worth the paper in football) as long as Nigel keeps doing what he is doing he has got no problems.
  8. In fairness all our managers had contracts when they left/ were sacked/ put on gardening leave. So there is no obstruction to NC carrying on the fine saints tradition of getting rid of managers after their average 10 month sell by date...... Just think about that before you call for NCs head wrist slasher
  9. I wasn't asked I was in a hotel room just outside Southampton waiting for the phone to ring...............
  10. I assumed Nigel was here for the long term. How long was his inital contract for?
  11. I can sympathise. My employers are making staffing cuts, voluntry job losses first (but compulsory's are just around the corner) anyone leaves they don't get replaced my team has gone from seven down to four yet somehow we're expected to maintan the same high standards as before.............. and thats before the extra work thats about to get thrown our way.
  12. Redknapp was on MOTD2 the other week saying that if spurs wanted top four next season they'd have to spend a lot more money on top of all the cash they've splashed already. Basically to break into the PL elite (and thus the CL) takes obscene amounts of cash yes our owners have cash but I'm not sure they want to spend that much for CL football, doesn't really fit with the self sustaining club model we supposdly want to adopt either. It might be cheaper to do a reverse Cardiff and join the Welsh league, saints would win every year thus ensuring CL ................
  13. The way I look at it the club will say Auto promotion and mean it I on the other hand will be happy with a top half finish and not losing to the skates or Brighton.
  14. Taken from the players presentation dinner thread but thought it deserved a place here Aaron Martin signing a new contract. Danny Butterfield on another year, due to 20 game trigger in current contract. Add to that Jaidi saying Nigel has already asked him to stay another season. That means only Harding, Gobern and Connolly are unaccounted for in the new contract stakes.
  15. I agree, I just don't think that by not doing so, it is a sign the club is looking to drive out ST.
  16. I'd agree they could do a better job on ST promotion. I put that down to not being sure what league we were going to be in both seasons (even last season there was an outside chance of play offs until quite late) rather than an out right attempt to discourage the selling of ST tickets. The club could have gone down the early bird route on cheap ST but if/when we'd been promoted they'd of lost out on being able to charge more for being in a higher league. If you are right pushing towards paying per game is a very risky move. Possibly more money in the long run but at the risk of a big drop in money if the season goes pear shaped and people decide to do something else on saturdays 6m up front or a possible 7.5m (or only 5m if season goes tits up) later on seems like a pretty striaght forward choice to me.
  17. I thought that was becuase they wanted to install automated ticket gates? I'm not saying people are wrong but if the club didn't want to sell ST why don't they just say so? The club are under no obligation to sell ST if they don't want to. I just don't hold with the idea that they'd just make it really difficult to put people off when they could just say "we are no longer selling season tickets" and have done with it .
  18. Have they actually come out and said that then?
  19. So what do the youngsters get? doesn't seem fair not give them some sort of reward if they particpated this season. Prehaps NC could take them to pizza hut for an ice cream factory followed by a trip to monkey bussiness in Eastleigh for a play......
  20. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas eh?
  21. Over egging it some what IMO. He started his career at left wing not LB so he wasn't really out of postion, The FA cup game against Cheltnham sticks out constantly pushed of the ball very weak in the challenge and that was at LB. He has got better as the season has gone on and is a useful squad player for cover at LB/LM but very good player not IMO.
  22. I'd like to point out the Nigel said (and if he didn't he should have) that the team couldn't of achieved promotion with out the backing of the fans. On this basis I believe NC should spring to a four day Vegas bender to all fans who have been to a saints game this season.
  23. Lambert played half his footballing life as a CM he only started playing as a striker while at Stockport.
  24. It wasn't unfair he had some awful games early in the season, Plymouth and Brentford at home spring readily to mind, and that shocker in the ManU game too. He got better thank goodness, but my general feeling about Dickson is he is no Dan Harding......
  25. Do we really have any fringe players? Most of the team have stepped in and done a job at some stage over the season. Last season we got rid of 14 players I don't think there are to many left to get rid of.
