any reason why us following Norwich is impossible?
doddisalegend replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
I think we need to add some pace to the team for the championship, other than Oxo and Forte (who if this season is anything to go buy is an impact player from the bench rather than a starter) we're a bit on the slow side as a team. Other than that I think we can compete with what we have, promoted with the same team I'm not so sure. -
I thought Adkins was a poor choice, i was wrong
doddisalegend replied to OldNick's topic in The Saints
Thats my feeling. Nigels done good but really he should have done, most expensive team in the history of league one, PL trainning and support facilities. Even with injuries we've been able to bring players of the bench that would walk into any other team in this league we have had a big advantage over most teams in this league. Not trying to take anything away from Nigel , he was brought in to a job and he has done it, but I'm not quite ready to declare him the messiah yet. Lets see how we do in a league where we are much more on par with the teams around us. -

Really? didn't they fail to beat us at three attempts last season? -
Not disagreeing with your assement of NC. Lots of clubs have chairman that have helped them to succsess but they don't sing about them during games it's just not the done thing, I suppose SFC could make it the in thing (but I doubt it).

I read that thread, banter is one thing but gobbing all over the guys car seems a bit over the top. I think the going down with no money in the bank chants were a bit tastless considering our history. As for songs not so bothered really (apart from singing about our chairman thats just wierd).

Season ticket prices would be my bet. I wonder how much extra championship football is going to cost?
-
Yeah the name St Mary's has to stay for me. Maybe another statue? I think Markus and Ted stood next to each other would be good.

In the morning watch my son play football for hedge end A. Followed by picking up my sons mate taking them both to Southampton on the train. Lunch in subway (hmmmm meatball sub). Go to the match singing my heart out clap the team off. Back home on the train....................then get the sinking feeling that I now have three months with no football to look forward to.

The much Maligned Rickie Lambert this season
doddisalegend replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
Good to see Lambert step up with two more vital goals today to make it 21 for the season........ -
Norwich give me hope we will do OK, couldn't beat us at three times of asking last season. Yes they added over the summer but many of the players are the same. If Holt can do all right at that level I have no worries about (a fit) Lambert.

One of the best things about league 1 is it's made us bring in players who for the first time in years appear to appericate playing for saints. Players who have been down in the lower leagues for much of their careers and know being at southampton is a good place to be. Far better than teams of overpriced journeymen and forgieners that made up our teams for the last few years long may it continue.

Very true AP gave the Nigel the tools to do the Job.

Well done Nigel and AC promotion it is. However as I have said before we have had the most expensive team in legaue one history, we have resources some PL teams would want. Second was a bare minimum this season IMO. Happy as I am at the moment (which is very). I'm waiting to see how we do next season in a league full bigger teams before I hail Nigel a genuis. He has IMO earned himself the right to a full season to have a crack at the championship and I hope the chairman agrees this time. Getting out of this league really should be the easy bit (and credit to hudders for making that harder than it should of been). Nigels test really is next season, If he can get us to do a Norwich in our first season then I well have Nigels love child. I'm really looking forward to seeing what Nigel does in the summer team wise now.

hope we don't lose now...........or this thread will be a bit silly

How nervous are you about today's match
doddisalegend replied to charliegeorgesflymo's topic in The Saints
Not really bonus match now. Being selfish I'd like to get second at SMS, as I'm not going to plymouth, thrashing Walsall to get autos would be nice. -
What no trial? it all seems a bit anti-climatic. Just shooting him makes him a matyr, putting him him on trail and then a long imprisoment on death row would have been prefeble. It won't make any difference to the self styled war on terror though becuase AQ and other terror groups operate as different cells rather than one unified group. Killing one man doesn't really stop the rest. In fact if anything we can expect revenge attacks if anything
-
Not a dig at Nigel but he has the most expensivly assembeled team in league 1 (ever) with PL trainning and medical facilities, second was bare minimum this season (and we're not 100% there yet) rather than as massive achievement. Next season is when Nigels real work begins

Brentford 0 - 3 Saints - Post Match Reaction
doddisalegend replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
I hope he didn't. It's a team game I'd rather hope an experinced veteran like Connolly would help out a young inexperinced player like Gobern rather than giving him a hard time and telling the manager how to do his job. Prehaps that's why Connolly hasn't played much despite claiming he has been fit for months.................... -
Oh the boardroom too. I was close but then I made the mistake of doing an interview on telly from my mums lounge...........after that even having MLT on my team wasn't enough and some swiss bloke bought the club..........

I imagine they're like most of us. They don't want to tempt fate until were over the finish line ....................Then all hell is going to break loose (or not as the case maybe) -
Northam Have to say I like my seat in the chapel along with my tartan blanket, slippers and thermos flask of ovaltine.
-
Yep thats my feeling, I would kind of like it to go down to the last game (assuming we end up in 2nd at the end of it) becuase I think a sold out SMS will be rocking.

Default setting for saints fans..........

LOL yes they'd love that
