I am on my way back from Newcastle and have only just read your latest posts. You talk about Shurlock's psychological issues. I am surprised that you haven't taken my advice about leaving this forum until election day. Your blood pressure must be suffering along with your mental health. I see that you are now playing the Brexiteers's "big wide world" card so beloved by the likes of David Davis and Liam Fox. Remind me again, how many trade deals did these 2 chumps say would be in place as soon as we left the EU ... and how many are in place.

As your old mate Duckie would say ... what a load if old pony. Are you really suggesting that once he got his hands on the leadership of the Labour party that Corbyn should resign ? Which other party leader has ever resigned because his party and he differed over a policy? He sees himself in a position where he can shape the Labour party for decades to come. He will do his best / has done his best to change his party's Brexit position from within. Not have a hissy and resign.. That is how politics works once you become leader. It is naive to expect politicians to do otherwise. Look at the growth of Momentum within the Labour party. To him , after his years in the political wilderness rebelling against the likes of Blair, changing the focus of his party is more important than Government.

I am not sure that Corbyn ever wants to become Prime Minister. Until 2015 his whole career had been one of protest. He has his principles and keeping them is more important to him than power. He would rather lead a political party that stuck to these principles than a Government. Under him Labour is a political movement rather than a party capable of Government. The ironic thing is that by sticking to these principles he will help to elect a right wing government. When Miliband stood down as Labour leader in 2015 it was almost unthinkable to see Corbyn as leader. He only appeared on the leadership ballot paper at the last minute when several mps put his name forward as they felt that it would be good for the left wing of the party to be heard in the leadership debate. They didn't really want him as leader. Boy, I bet they regret their actions now.

I know that he writes for a "left wing rag" but Andrew Rawnsley is a smashing political commentator. To my mind this perfectly sums up this election. If Boris Johnson gets back to No 10 he will have Jeremy Corbyn to thank https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/dec/08/if-boris-johnson-gets-back-to-number-10-he-will-have-jeremy-corbyn-to-thank?

I had him as my Mom.

"Get Brexit done" is the 2019 equivalent of "strong and stable. " That didn't get the Tories very far. Time will tell about "Get Brexit done". Strong and stable proved to be totally untrue. Getting Brexit done is equally untruthful.

Thanks for the suggestions. The terms of the bet mean that the bet has to be settled before Sunday night. The boxing bet is definitely interesting .... -
Hmmm. Having a rant about election leaflets from a political party during a General Election on a football forum. Giving a political party a childish insulting name. Are these the actions of a sane individual ? Do you think you are taking things a little far? Are you feeling well? Is this election having a toll on your health? Why don't you have a nice little drink, take a chill pill and forget about politics until Polling day ? I am sure that it would be good for your blood pressure ...and your mental health.

I have been given a free £100 bet which has to be used by Sunday evening. It has to be used on this bookie' s site . Any ideas on how to use it ?

Thought the substition for Romeu was very needed but came 10 minutes too late. We were losing the midfield and needed Romeu's power. How you see Saints's current position is a good test of whether you are a pessimist or optimist. On the one hand we have only just beaten the worst 2 teams in the league. On the other we are just 2 points from mid table. With teams like Bournemouth going on losing runs and looking at our upcoming fixtures, I think that we have grounds for optimism.

The need for PR and a change to the FPTP system is highlighted today with the news that since the second world war there are a number of constituencies which have never changed hands. Apparently 14 million voters live in these seats (more Labour than Tory) . The vote of anybody who lives in one of these constituencies yet does not like their party of the current incumbent in effect has a worthless vote. Chris Grayling proved to be one of the most incompetent ministers ever ( as an aside it would be interesting to know what part his "reforms" to the probation service played in the London Bridge atrocity). He is MP for Epsom and Ewell yet that seat has been Conservative since 1874!! There is a fat chance of him receiving the treatment from the electors that his record deserves. PR , according to its detractors, leads to the growth of extremists. They say that we would see more right and left wing extremists in Parliament with PR. I think , however, that we are already seeing extremists what with the left wing Momentum group dominating Labour and the Tories falling under the "drain the swamp " mentality of the likes of our own Duckie. Could it lead to anything much worse than we see now??

Reckon it will be Leicester at home. A chance for revenge.

Last Saturday in November 2 years ago saw us beat Everton 4 1. Pelli 's finest moment. Is it too much to hope for a repeat today ?

Thank you for replying. I hadn't seen Les's response but as you say he clearly doesn't read very well Apart from an inability to read well , does anyone know what the problem is with Les? Did he ever reply when asked to quote examples of how the EU adversely affected his life? Did that get sent in one of those periods when he ran away from this thread?

When did she come up with this? Do you have a link? I am not questioning what you say - I would just be interested to hear any politician talking like this.

I always find it amusing when people on the right wing accuse the BBC of left wing bias. They cite Guardian reading journalists and other supposed bias. People on the left accuse it of right wing bias citing examples of removal of the laughter at Johnson at the leaders's debate and doctoring of the video of Johnson at the Cenotaph. I tend to think that if both the right wing and the left wing consider the BBC to be biased towards their opponents, then the BBC are probably doing things right and are not biased.

Good post. I intend to vote Lib Dem (or is it Lib Dumb as that seems to be their name for several on here). Negative points Leader lacks gravitas. Full of good ideas. Not sure that they have the capability of delivering them even if they were in a position of doing so. Their Brexit strategy is muddled. They are very keen to denounce Brexit but they should be doing much more to unite the Remain vote. I still intend to vote for them but despair at the lack of choice compared with previous elections.

Wait for the usual suspects to come on here and rubbish this.
