  1. On a superficial level perhaps but blacks in SAfrica had a much worse life with much greater oppression than anybody in N Ireland in the years before the Troubles. The National government in S Africa had been admirers of the Nazis FFS!! To bring that regime to an end, relatively peacefully with a lot less bloodshed than in N Ireland and to create a united "rainbow" nation that despite the sceptics has held together was a remarkable achievement. That is why Mandela was a great man. Comparisons with the IRA are only superficial.
  2. Nick Griffin came out with some nonsense .... no surprise there I guess.
  3. When did you answer the question?
  4. But it maakes the comparison with the IRA rather invalid.
  5. I notice that he has come back onto this thread. I wonder if he will get round to answering the question. For someone who has so much to say on the subject you would have thought that he would be able to answer the question of what institutional channels existedfor black SAs to change the status quo.
  6. Only if Crawley get demoteda division and also end up non league.
  7. Just seen the interview on Saints Player. He did look cross. Very cross. I would not have like to be closeto him last night.
  8. You can still get 33/1 on them detting relegated. They are 11/10 to be in the bottom half. Who says bookies don't give good odds.
  9. Disappointing but the last 2 games have been a bit of a reality check. We are a good team and should be proud of what we have achieved but we are not a CL team yet. This is hardly surprising. Less than 3 years ago we were playing Dagenaham & Redbridge. I am sure that we are on the right path and believe the future is bright.
  10. Don't you realise that if you dare to criticise Mark "Southampton to lose 10 games in a row" Lawrenson , you incur the wrath of Kraken, CB Fry and sometimes Turkish ? God knows why they always defend himself so routinely but it is a good way to wind them up.

I rarely invest in individual shares these days preferring to invest through funds. You decide on the area in which you want to invest and then choose the top performing funds in that area. It gives you a much wider choice of where to invest. This year for example I was able to capitalise on the rise in the Nikkei by going in heavily into Japanese funds. This would have been well nigh impossible for me by buying shares. There are so many different sectors available you can invest in virtually every world market / type of share. What I particularly like is the fact that you just choose the areas in which to invest and then the fund managers have the more dificut task of deciding which shares to buy. If a fund doen't perform you switch into one that is performing. It is easy to see which funds are or are not doing well if you log into one of the investment houses websites. It is the nearest that most investors will get to having "perfect knowledge." I think that Hargreaves Lansdown is the best website / stockbroker although people like iii and elson associates are also in the market. I buy and sell through HL and find their fund performance tools easy to use. Atm I am mostly in UK companies of all sizes,Europe and the Far East.Japan is still doing well. India is a difficult market to catch right as it stagnates for a long while but then will suddenly jump. Biotech is an area of fun if you want to experience highs and lows in rapid succession.
  12. There is going to be such a scramble from those out of work managers to take on the job of a lifetime.... and this bloke missed off the list Kevin Keegan, Sven Goran Ericsson and Roberto di Matteo. I bet they cannot wait.
  13. http://fansonline.net/portsmouth/mb/view.php?id=524537 They do make me laugh. Hoddle for the Skates!! Very likely!!
  14. Whilst I don't diagree with anything that has been said, I was homing in on Tw attenburg. He sees us committing offences and giving away late penalties for innocuous offences which no other referee seems to see. What is wrong with the bloke ??
  15. Please correct me if I am wrong but I think the last 2 penalties against us have been against Norwich away last season (which Boruc saved) and the penalty yesterday. Both penalties came at the end of the match and both were harsh decisions. The one at Norwich came when Luke breathed too close to Grant Holt whilst yesterday's came as Joe infringed at the same time as Jos was having his shirt pulled by Giroud and was given for a foul which occurs on dozens of occasions on every Saturday and for which penaties are very very rarely given. Both penalties against us were given by Mark Clattenburg & I think that yesterday was the first time that he has reffed us since the Norwich game. What is wrong with the bloke? Does he have a campaign against us? Does he put money on us to lose? Readers of Bily ****e's excellent blog will know that Billy calls Clattenburg "****tenburg." The name is undoubtedly apprpriate. Could we reuse to have the dipstick officiating in our future games??
  16. I am fed up and need cheering up. Decided to drink the bottle of champagne I put in the fridge to celebrate us going top of the league. We are not top but it seems like a good way to get rid of the fed up feeling.
  17. I don't very often come on the match thread. Does Glasgow Saint ever say anything positive on them??
  18. Kevin Friend
  19. No. We will win 2-1 and Boruc's slip will stop us going top.
  20. Bet 365 have Lallana at 5/2 to make the squad. Rickie is 6/4 ,Luke 10/1 whilst James Ward Prowse is 33/1. Lallana was10./1this time last month.... so he must be impressing somebody !!
  21. I think that goal had a huge detrimental effect on a whole generation of Saints fans.
  22. I was thinking today about goals that I have never seen on TV and 2 came to mind. I have never been able to watch a replay of Adrian Heath's winner at Highbury in 1984. Subsequent relegations seemed nothing compared to the feeling of despair after that goal went in. I have never seen it again and never want to. Similarly I understand that Kanu scored a goal in the 2008 Cup Final. I had no interest in that match, did not watch it and have never wanted to see a replay of that goal. Does anybody else have goals that they cannot bear to watch??
  23. Brilliant. That confirms what I have suspected for a long time.. Rallyboy is none other than Neil "factless" Allen. For the Skates News he just turns out drivel to please the mentally deficient. He saves the proper stuff, the stuff that he went to journalists school to learn, the stuff which entitles him to be called a journalist , for this forum.
  24. Perhaps that £20 milion that Tescos are going to give them that Corps used to go banging on about is about to be coughed up.
  25. Fair play to him.
