Over the last few years we have had quite a cast of characters in the soap opera of Southampton Football Club. Whatever has happened to them? Do they still go to games? In particular I was thinking of: Rupert Lowe Andrew Cowen Mike Richards Keith Wiseman (as the OP stated he is eating from a burger van0 Leon Crouch Mary Corbett Patrick Trant Mike Wilde Strode Gibbons (or whatever his name was) Guy Askham but I am sure that there have been many others who have had walk on parts in this particular soap. Where are they now??

I would like to say that I do not know who he is. But he has been pretty accurate with his team predictions and it will be interesting to see if Puncheon plays tonight.
-
He has probably left TalkSport because they do not build their schedules around him.
-
He was definitely a better footballer than he is television pundit. Mind you I am probably better at football than he is at punditry!! We bought him from somewhere when he was playing non league football. (Was it Wymouth ??). He was some computer geek working for the local council until we rescued him. We rescued his career ... and he is still ungrateful.

This is boll*x. I myself, would look at current attendances to estimate potential support levels but as any sensible historian knows , Southampton used to get much bigger attendances than Portsmouth for the traditional medieval Shrove Tuesday game of football. Diarists of the time regularly reported Southampton crowds of 50,000 plus back in the 14th century. Pompey used to scrape together a few wandering tinkers to watch their games. Its all recorded by Geoffrey of ******shire in his journal in the British Museum. Why has PES omitted such relevant satistics from his figures??

Nah!! He is the same age as me (claims to be the same age as Maradona) which puts him near his 50th year. I believe he has a touch of the Psycho about him.

Solent now feature Saints behind Pompey and Bompey. They talk Pompey first and then cover Bournemouth before featuring us. I suppose that they justify this on the basis of league positions .... but as only 6,000 people can be bothered to go and watch Bournemouth each week and 20,000 plus go to see us there must be a large number of people who feel peeved at having to wait behind Bournemoth to get their team's news.

Don't expect an answer from Corp on this one. There is more likelihood of Rednapp being declared Pope than Corp sensibly answering a direct question like this.

I can remember standing up for him in an argument in the away end at Loftus Road in what was probably his last season. He had not being having a good game whwn some young lad (he is probably at least mid 30's now) called Nick Holmes an old effing useless tart. It was a bit like using that phrase to describe the Queen Mum!!! We did have fun debating that one!!!

Be careful !! He still has a post available today (pocket money doesn't stretch that far these days so he cannot afford a fiver to join) & I confidently expect a finely honed respose that will floor the sceptics.

Probably true.

You have to go back 5+ years to dig those up but you are definitely right with those 2. I was not sitting in the Chapel for either of them. Maybe if I sat elsewhere for all of the matches we would get more goals in the Chapel!! :-)
-
I sit in the Chapel and like to see the team attacking my end in the second half HOWEVER I am more than happy to forego this pleasure if it means that we lose that horrible sinking feeling of inevitability that comes when we see the away team attacking (normally down their riight hand side) in the last minute of the game and you just know that they are going to score. I have lost count of the number of times this has happened at St Marys - in the Premiership , in the Championship and even in the first division. Last minute winning goals at the Chapel end never seem to happen for Saints. (Tessem against Sunderland is the only one that springs to mind). Breaking this spiral by attacking the other end in the second half would be just great!!

Is that the machine that you normally use to type in the orders for Big Macs and Chicken Nuggets??

I agree. After all how else would we be assured that Corp Ho was still alive unless he came on here for his usual rant every couple of weeks against us.

Whilst welcoming the idea of getting extra people to the game with the £7.50 offer for tickets which is an excellent idea, I do despair at the marleting of the hospitality offers. £35 for a beer, curry and seat at the match (£41 after VAT) sounds appealing. I am tempted by this and could bring my dad as a birthday present to him. HOWEVER I am a season ticket holder and have already paid for a ticket for the game. I don't really want to pay twice for the same game. Why isn't there a scheme whereby I could sell my ticket back to the club for a match when I was going for the hospitality package ?? I would be much more likely to take up the hospitality offers (and bring others who aren't even going to the game) if I didn't feel that I was going to be paying twice to watch the same game of football.

Rupert Lowe did Good Things while he was at the club - discuss

Interesting. I did not realise that they had been so accepted elsewhere. Pompey could well do with them :-) In my view however, I felt that one of his biggest mistakes (and I think that there were many) was the way that the team that were relegated was so quickly disbanded . The norm these days seems to be to give it one good shot to get back into the Preniership once you are relegated. West Brom are past masters at this. Brum & Newcastle are others who have succeeded in the last couple of years. If it fails, you then cutback. AS soon as we were relegated we just managed to p*** off the majority of our players and disband our team. The players all wanted to get away - with the relegation clauses being a major reason for this. We ended up giving away (or at best receiving small fees) for the likes of Delap, Niemi, Ormerod , Quashie, SKP, Higgy - all of whom were undoubtedly immensely p***ed off at the relegation clauses and wanted to get away asap. All of them have subsequently performed in the Premiership. Our best chance to regain our place in the Premiership was in our first season down. The relegation clauses were one of the main factors why we did not achieve that. -
I think that it is interesting how after 2 games under NA we have now seen Dickson play, have seen more of Holmes than we saw in the previous 6 months and now have even seen Pullis getting the closest to a first team place than in the last 2 years. Anyone would think that NA was wanting to assess the playing staff that he has at this disposal. Taking such a logical, sensible approach is not something that we have come to expect from Southampton managers.
