Thought that we could have used the wings a lot more - especially in the first half when Tella was often in acres of space but we (primarily KWP) chose to go inside. Must say that I love the extended additional time that is going to be played this season. Knowing that we had 8 minutes (last season it would have been 4) meant a less frantic additional time. 8 bookings in the game -the first one after 14 seconds !!! You get booked for kicking the ball away a metre but nothing for the repeated fouls on Tella. I am not sure that the refs have got this sorted correctly!!

A few observations on JWP 1. There is no way he is turning out for Saints on Saturday. The risk of injury would surely prevent this from happening. 2. The idea of him staying and becoming a Southampton legend would surely hold little appeal for someone with his Portsmouth connections. 3. West Ham are a Noddy club and there is always the risk for JWP that they will come down this season. They are however in Europe this season. It may well be a Mickey Mouse league but it is Europe after all and JWP is on record as saying that it isi the European jaunts that he enjoyed most at Saints.
