  1. Difference to a potential buyer between Saints and Pompey is not just debts but Premiership infrastructure. Saints = lots; stadium, training facilities, successful youth programme etc. Here I give some rare credit to Lowe, his problem was refusing to get rid of the plc and sell the club to a decent owner to take it forward rather then down when he had the chance to do so in the Premiership. Pompey = nothing. What's more is as their Premier League status falls away from them naturally due to lack of ability on the pitch even their Premier League place is no longer guaranteed - their only saleable asset. Are they in the poo? You betcha.
  2. LOL! They dont need Rupert to go down this season... still would be nice though. Come on SOG admit it, if Lowe took over Pompey you'd be chuffed to bits in the same way Pompey fans have been chuffed to see Rupert in charge of Saints. I'll never forget at SMS when he came on the big screen TVs by accident and the Pompey fans cheered for him!! They knew as did we that he was wrecking our club.
  3. LOL!
  4. I dont think there is a debate... the man was as you said arrogant and latterly proven to be inept. There's simply no debate about it. Question posed is 'Where's Wally?'
  5. 1. No - we need to find replacements for the last of the Lowe-kids. James is not good enough for example. 2. See aove 3. Unreliastic no, but perhaps a little over optimistic... something we've craved for years so it's not al bad!!! Mid table survival is fine this year, Pards has achieved that already IMHO... so why not let a little optimism have its day... so nice to have a Club we can believe in again.
  6. Lowe had a tough job? LOL! Look at what the new owners have on their plate and what their manager has to endure - a 10 point deficit and League 1 football...!! They're doing fine! We should have lost Lowe many many years ago before he and his plc could be allowed to put us into this position. Lowe shouldve sold the plc to one owner whilst we were in the Premiership. He didnt, we fell and his arrogance could only finally be defeated by the bank who pulled the rug finally from an inept, self indulgent and frankly out of his depth chairman. Anyway, Happy New Year SOG! Here's to the future... it's finally bright... its finally Southampton FC again!!
  7. I do not look like a Robin that has been shot!
  8. He's got us from minus 10 points and certain relegation to beyond mid-table. I agree we still need to remove some of the old Lowe kids though - James for one needs to be replaced. Yes, we do need some more physical strength - dunno about mental though, I think thats there, we have some superbly dedicated players and a motivating manager. Its still early days for Pards to be fair, not quite his team completely yet.
  9. Tis a ghood question Alps..! Fair play to you.
  10. ...although that's a good point!
  11. AS you say Alps, Colchester may squeeze through playing like this, but will relegate soon after. Saints will get there playing football, stay there, build and rise again to the Premiership. Pardew is not about one promotion - he''s declared he's after the Premier League in 5 years. So, keep it up Pards I say.
  12. I think that's a fair summary to be honest. We can make the playoffs but will need consistency again to rise the last few places to get there, then you have to wonder if we'll have the talent to get through them ayway. Mid-table is a result this season - afterall with Lowe/Wotte and the kids we'd be League 2 next season so surviving and finishing roughly where we are is a bonus. That said... we can do it!!! COYR!
  13. another decent player for Spurs lined up in the January transfer window that will take them firmly into the Champions League? Someone like Craig Bellamy perhaps?
  14. I think playing down Antonio in recent games is a blessing in disguise.
  15. Let sleeping dogs lie? What in case they return to haunt us in whatever form they re-emerge? No thanks. Good to remind ourselves occassionally, and besides it never ceases to amaze me that the only posters on here who say such things are those that, well, failed to stand up and be counted when their support was needed perhaps? Failed to acknowledge failure was returning back in the summer of 2008 when operation kids and cloggies was dooming us to further failure. I think we should remember, so we don't allow such mistakes and those who would make them to ever return again. We got our club back eventually - but it cost us a League too many and was largely down to Barclays Bank to be fair. I like watching posters who allowed a failure to return again squirm. Still, onwards and upwards...! We will never forget nonetheless.
  16. He's gone forever. Enjoy Southampton Football Club again... Ding Dong Southampton Leisure Holdings plc is dead.
  17. Great manager. Superbly wealthy owner. Excellent new Chairman. More players to come. Who cares about The Echo?... apart from the fact that it is the only paper that regularly reports on Saints. I think a New Year compromise is probably needed, but I for one hope that The Echo get behind what's going on at our Club and stop being such drama queens. Afterall, they were toothless for too long when Lowe was allowed to run riot and did little to oust him IMHO. They were part of the problem. The Club need to learn a lesson too though. This sort of thing actually plays into the hands of the local media - it is bad publicity, but helpful publicity for the Echo, afterall how many more copies of the Echo were sold when they were banned by the Club? Sounds like a Harry Hill fight to me! Bring on promotion and Pompey in the CCC next season!
  18. Well done for pointing that out Hulk. JPT hero. He may just be worth all the wages afterall.
  19. Antonio has some pace though. I like having both of them!
  20. To be fair, I quite like the Danny Wallace picture, it is supposed to be a characature afterall. Better than I could do! I've had a a couple of goes myself to do Danny but I find the hands the most difficult... ..still you all have to admit the one of Iain Dowie (bottom left) isn't bad.
  21. It's OK, should stick to faces though I think. Still I think the likeness is 'unbelieveable'...
  22. Greatest ever 11... but then I suppose that could be seen as being your favourite Saints players?
  23. Agreed! Although to really add the final ingredients to Ponty's picture you need to add a picture of Lowe as Chairman and Wotte as manager - for me Wotte was easily worse than JP. That said, it is a time of good cheer and all that so perhaps lets not remind ourselves of either of them!
