Martin Samuel, Daily Mail on Coretese: "self serving" and a "buffoon"
SaintRobbie replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
This will be the same Daily Mail that supported Rupert Lowe on a regular basis as the journalist were good friends of his? Bitter grapes perhaps Rupert? I quite like Cortese, ambitious and errr... certainly doing a better job than The Daily Mail's old ally Rupert. -
We might do it, but I think it will be hard.

This year? Head: No Heart: Yes Next Year? Head: No Heart: No .....................because we'll be champions!

Ive posted this before but several months ago I said Swindon would thrash our team having watched them a couple of times last season. Then we sacked Wotte. Happy days! Saints 2 Swindon 1

Clever bit of marketting that. Put it on ebay a few weeks before then go to the match and buy all you need in order to make a cool profit after someone advertises it for you on the Saints forum!!! Brilliant!

Wait til we start on our new 50000 seater stadium!
-
Superb!

Cortese is developing into something of a legend in my opinion. New stadium, ambition, nice idea for a one of strip next season to celebrate our long history and now apearing to get behind the fans in our hour of ticket need. Me like.

Nice seeing Nick commenting on issues that are well within his comfortzone at last. Well done Nick I say, but isn't the Saints Trust now irrelevant and dead?

I agree with the sentiment of some of those Leeds fans. I think they should be anxious. I think that most of the teams above us should be anxious, unlike Saints they lack the depth in their squads to see out consistent runs of form at the end of the season, whereas we will continue to win far more than we lose, no doubts about it. I thought a mid-table finish for Pards this season after the ****-sandwich he was served by Wotte and Lowe was going to be all we'd manage (and that would have been impressive). Now I am beginning to think Pards may just pull off a play-off place.

Just one thing to say really... happy.

Talk of increasing the size of the ground whilst we are in League 1, superb support, no debts, even Kelvin Davis' captain statements in the programme are positive (I love it when he says quotes like 'the team I lead') and a superb manager who has got us to Wembley in his first year. This Club is going places. Thank you Barclays Bank for removing Lowe and the Dutchies.

I think we need a museum. If we're having a bigger stadium lets put a museum in it.

Glad that we havent given up chasing the playoffs

Another manager with questionable ambition ?
SaintRobbie replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Spot on assessment from AP I think. Can't fault any of the logic, understand Alps point but to be fair he is talking about success, he is building a team to get into the Premiership in 5 years. Whether he stays League 1 and builds a winning mentality gradually or we would go up this season and then dent our confidence too early in the CCC I dont know, but AP only fails if we are not in the Premier League in 5 years time IMHO. He's talking sense in the article. Good expectation management. Considering the alternative was Wotte, kids, Lowe and relegation to League 2 I am pretty happy with APs performance to be honest. -
Are we as fans now obsessed with Pompey..?
SaintRobbie replied to Thedelldays's topic in General Sports
I for one am enjoying watching the fishy types down the road flap. Its rather fun. -
Personally I wish we had Wotte and the kids back, today's performance clearly indicates the pain that some messageboard posters have to go through without having anything to criticise. .... Wah. Bloody marvelous!!!
-
I'm sure most will remember the fishy inflatables that appeared during the last 2 to 3 derby games with Pompey. The guys at the Fartton Park mauling who had the row of inflatable skates arranged with one letter each on the belly to spell out 'U SKATE BASTARDS' was easily my favourite of recent times. Genius! Anyone got any pictures of fishy inflatables from the last games and suggestions where we may obtain some for this one!?

Stolen Fro Golden Balls (But deserves a thread of its own)

Lost Lowe for good, no debts, great new owner, superb manager, revenge on Keano, beat Pompey and continue on for FA cup glory, JPT win at Wembley and promotion? We're a club again.
-
Brilliant! We'll win, out-sing them and make them suffer every minute of the 90 mins of humiliation. The crowing glory of their season will be a Saints win and relegation and administration!
-
Exactly, I think it should attract a penalty... f'sure! Just gets deeper and deeper for Pompey. They're doing a Leeds. Spent too much outside their means. Our demise was not quite the same - it was mismanagement gross mismanagement. We are rebuilding well within our means. Strong. Well provisioned with infrastructure as well as a backer honouring his word. What's more, first time for a while that we've had some managerial stability.
