  1. To be fair, I'm not sure we'll be able to fit all the Cherries fans into SMS when we promote back into the Premiership, but of course quite a few will start to come again when we do, just like they always used to.
  2. + Fox. Good point to be fair. I suppose we've all got a little Transfer Deadline-itis
  3. I must admit, hearing the 'Same old Beattie, always scoring' song at SMS would be rather good! Funniest BT song moment I recall was watching Saints away at Chelsea when he scored in the first minute or two. We sang it. He then scored an own goal… so Chelski fans sang it too! Had to laff! Best moment was his 89th minute header at SMS to beat Manure 1-0 at home. Loved that so much! If it was a possibility my advice to Adkins mirrors WGS's to Moyes, 'He's only any good if you get him super fit'… or words to that effect. Can he ever be super fit again?
  4. This will be interesting. I have a niggling doubt about Adkins against experienced managers, Maclaren is no fool (particularly if he leaves his umbrella behind). We should win easily… but I am in two minds on placing a bet to win on this after Sven confirmed my niggling doubt last Saturday!
  5. Champions.
  6. To be honest, he's on loan. If he's crap he goes back. If he's good, we'll want to make an offer for him or take someone even better instead. Simples!
  7. Like our new defender?
  8. Give him a trial! Might knock his arrogance out of him. Perhaps Adkins can ask him if he'd like his autograph!! If he's able to compete with Connolly and Lambert then take him back! I think if Adkins rated him to be fair, BT would be welcomed back at SMS. He'd need a pay cut though! He did us proud, then gave us a good pay day and a laugh at Everton's expense when he turned crap!
  9. I guess the key question is why no signings? (Although I have to say that as long as we have reinforcement at the back (and we have) I don't think there is any urgency yet) Many people seem to think that our reputation in the transfer market is not good. Can NC reassure us that he is able to support Nigel Adkins when he requests the player he wants. With Neil Warnocks comments about Saints fannying around over transfers, are we regarded as a little amateurish in our transfer dealings? Has it cost us or not?
  10. He's better than we have.
  11. What's more Burnley just signed another striker…. I think there's still a good chance!
  12. Under pressure. Anyone got the goals?!
  13. he he he he he he!…. and the Saints go marching on! on! on!
  14. Oh I am going to make some money tonight! Saints win Saints win! It's like taking money off a baby this betting lark!
  15. Can you buy away tickets at Swindon? Probably a daft question, but it's been a while!
  16. Things can only get better… but there are only 6 places or so between the two teams! So, 'was it worth it Oxy is a good question', but only for this month methinks!
  17. Promotion. Always aim to your potential, and by goodness we've proven we have the potential already. Now to strengthen the squad.
  18. It suddenly struck me that with Matt now off the radar after his genuine attempts to rescue the club before ML (god rest him) came in, it may be time to give the club an opportunity to constructively remember a true - contemporary - great. I have often said that a bronze bust of MLT at the Player's Entrance at the front of SMS (although it could have a similar effect at the front of the training ground I guess, but fewer of us would see it!) with perhaps 'LOYALTY' or words to that effect beneath it would be a great incentive for our younger players to realise that aiming to stay with a Club for your whole career - instead of racing off to Arsenal to become a smaller fish for an agents pay day - should be a principle worth re-stating these days. It could provide something for them to aspire toward, although I am not naive enough to realise it will be their be all and end all, hard cash will always win sadly!! Perhaps the time is coming where we may have the right moment for something like this to be put in train, after all it would take a year or so to prepare it and who knows where we'll be - in the Premiership or certainly competing strongly for next seasons promotion hopefuls? The Club, fans, players and MLT need to move forward together, could this help? Away fans would also respect it, how many friends who support other clubs do we have who say MLT was the best player never to continually play for England, or other such complements? He is still our greatest TV ambassador IMHO, one to nurture not to be kept at arms length by NC. There will be some who will call for others before MLT - and frankly you could take your pick from those on the banner above (although Ted is already in pride of place at SMS!) But, MLT is a figure young players can relate and aspire to emulate. He is someone who we all love, local(-ish!), and a true Saint. Anyway, it is an idea only… and makes a good thread for discussion as optimism continues in abundance…! Thoughts?
  19. I think he has talent, but is sensibly nurturing it at Saints. If we do not promote this season we will have a great deal of interest from other clubs, but we need not sell and that is the key. Another Oxy-moron Chamberlain to sell on if he seeks his opportunity before club loyalty. We'd certainly get enough from his sale next season, given the way he is developing his reputation, to finance an even stronger push on promotion next season were we to fail this time.
  20. To be fair, we are still rebuilding. Almost there, I grant you, but not quite. I think one major change is needed at the back, but anyone else is simply being bought (or brought-on from the youth) to add quality. Adding quality is a super position to be in. I think all we need is one CB and we can then add that quality, when it suits at the right price. But, the basic premise of this thread is correct from Legod and Adrian… consistent selection makes a massive difference, it was of course WGS's 'secret' when he was here.
  21. Something tells me Legod that they have been training, hence the need for a talented professional at the back and not just an enthusiastic amateur.
  22. Never change a winning team until you have their replacements ready… I think Adkins has introduced the newbies well. I certainly agree with consistency but we could do with a better CB, who frankly could walk into this side now. A new striker will promote competition but need not be played immediately. A new midfielder need not start for sometime!! Nice to be reinforcing success on our terms, rather than taking whoever we can get. ….I feel sorry for Swindon on Tuesday! I agree with hypo, we shall see what they are made of!
