  1. Davis has been something of a midfield hub, his work rate is fantastic, his fitness record is amazing, how many matches has he missed? (compare Ramirez) but the fact is we can't get a midfield goalscorer---anyone watch the programme with Scholes' 107 goals? If we could get just five a year, I'd be satisfied
  2. Would Caulker have signed if he thought he would be third or fourth choice?
  3. Lambert did well for us but I don't know why we keep on keeping on about him. He's gone and his career is near the end, he isn't of value to us any more. We don't keep on about Ox or Shaw and it would be good if their futures were with us not with our rivals. And yes, love him or not, it was Lambert who began the exodus.
  4. It's just amazing the number of players who leave us and fade, I suppose Bale is the exception and Alf Ramsey, if you go back that far.
  5. Keegan and Shilton didn't make their name with us and KKs contribution was small and short lived, Ron Davies must replace him. Alf Ramsey could replace the guy who went to Brazil. Marcus surely must be alongside Ted Bates...difficult decisions, good luck. Charlie Wayman? Yes, my first boyhood idol, I cried when he went to Preston, he made the postwar team great to watch
  6. Shawcross is not our style, I hope he is not on our radar, I don't think RK would chose him, hope not
  7. Alf Ramsey
  8. The structure of the Club is wrong, the young stars have not been nurtured (Woods, Briggs Bates Dawson were so promising) and a succession of overseas folk have been brought in for short terms to discourage them. we are the Pompey of cricket

    Fonte

If the banner is the Saints legends, there is no bigger name than Alf Ramsey, we seem to forget his life as a Saint---another one Spurs nicked

    Fonte

Of course Fonte should be on the banner, we can do without Keegan who was just a big name, never had his heart in the club the way Fonte has
  11. The team/club looks like it is in meltdown, pleased Dawson is back perhaps we will now value him and use him. Do any of the 'coaches' know how to nurture and encourage young talent? I don't see any sign that they do
  12. Isn't he Liverpool's spy?
  13. Ron Davies was never as good anywhere else
  14. All clubs sell even L'pool lost Sterling when they vowed to keep him and they lost Suarez; Arsenal have lost players to their rivals, Man U lost Ronaldo to Real and so it goes on---our advantage is we have a scheme, home grown and from abroad, to replace them with younger and cheaper and hopefully in the long term they will also be as good or better.
  15. How long before Weston tells us we were unlucky with the pitch, the umpires made obvious mistakes but we were the better team really
  16. Thanks, good to know who is in charge of what. I hope they are all considering their positions, who can actually sack them?
  17. This team has neither heart nor leadership
  18. Its gone pear shaped
  19. The Club is a shambles. Bransgrove flashed a lot of money to get the stadium built and flashes more to hire players from abroad in short spells but that is not the way to build a team or a spirit or an ethos. It's the Pompey way not the Southampton way. Who is responsible for team selection? And who is responsible for the academy? Feeding the young ones into the team is just not working and when it did work outstandingly well (Bates) they sack him!
  20. Didn't something like this happen to Wayne Bridge, he didn't play much for years but made a fortune on the bench. Wasted career but fat bank balance
  21. We sound more and more like the cricketing version of Pompey, no wonder Bransgrove threw in his lot with them
  22. If he won't sign a new contract then we have to buy a cover for when he leaves. We've done that. Clyne will now find he is second choice because our future is with the new guy and the sooner he gets in the better. As with not missing Shaw becaues of Bertrand so we will not miss Clyne if Cedric is as good as we hope. Clyne and his agent can make a fuss if they like but they will have brought it upon themselves
  23. If Clyne had the idea of running his contrtact down and leaaving for nothing (as he did at Palace when we got him) he may have been out-thought by Koeman because he could now spend the year on our bench with Cedric in his place, he would be out of sight and out of mind and lose his England place and his appeal to top clubs. he had long enough to sign the contract, this is one way to cope with 'player power'. Reckon we've made a good move
  24. The Club is a shambles, the attention has been on the ground (for Test matches) and not on the players because the money money money is not in county cricket
  25. Good to see Bates' batting part in Somerset victory
