There's something wrong with the recruitment system and something even worse with the youth coaching system. We had exciting prospects five years ago but the young ones have gone- Briggs and Bates - Woods has not been nurtured now has long term injury. Pellegrini and his team were not helped last season by the announcement half way through that his successor was appointed. If that happened to me while I was still at work I would be angry, disillusioned and feel undermined and under valued. In fact it was disgraceful by any normal standard

The age shouldn't be an issue, loads of top managers are older, the backroom staff would be important. He was treated disgracefully at City--appointing his successor while he was still in post--no wonder he had a mediocre season. If he gives us two good seasons that's fine by me.
