    Laurie Mac

We are the only place he had any success, no wonder he likes us
  2. I am still hoping for Oxo but think it very doubtful. No sign of negotiations, not even a rumour and we've just signed his sort of player (I think)
  3. Lop off Keegan, he was not here long, his homes are Liverpool and Newcastle, his heart was never with us. I would prefer Nick Holmes or Jason Dodd who gave their commitment to us. Definitely prefer Fonte
  4. To sell a 30 year old for £13million and buy a 21 year old for £12million sounnds like it could be good business and -more important to me- good for the team as well.
  5. If someone has to go off the banner it should be Keegan who was only here 5 minutes
  6. Good to know some Europeans are still valued...Markus didn't just pour in money like so many rich owners, he had the wisdom to lay foundations which is better by far.

    Claude Puel

So'ton is my city so I love it, the centre and high street are a bit ugly but the Parks lead into the Avenue, the Avenue leads into the Commom and the Common leads up to the finest sports centre I've ever seen so that green space runs for miles. We are dead lucky. What more does anyone want?

    Sammy Lee

I sometimes wonder if his enthusiasm for Saints was less than his enthusiasm for Liverpool---will the flow of our best to his old club now end?
  9. Is Eric Black replacing Sammy Lee? I wonder if that will stop the flow of our best to Sammy's Liverpool?
  10. Wouldn't FdeB bring Bergkamp with him? That would be fun. Yes, FDB for preference but I think it's all over
  11. White and Benkenstein should have gone ages aog, but they are probably just implementing Bransgrove policy, he has never had interest beyond the 20/20 money
  12. If the club buys Oxo I would forgive most things and see it as a sign of intent----but what are the chances of that?
  13. Was Pellegrini too big a name for Reed to handle?
  14. Thanks Unce Les, I remember where we were when you joined us, some people seem to forget that, and look where we are now. It's just amazing! He deserves gratitude not groans
  15. leaving Europe doesn't mean we can revert to the slave trade, I hope
  16. There's something wrong with the recruitment system and something even worse with the youth coaching system. We had exciting prospects five years ago but the young ones have gone- Briggs and Bates - Woods has not been nurtured now has long term injury. The policy of buying in expensive showmen for short periods only destroys confidence of our own. Bransgrove needs to take a lesson from Saints strategy, ah I forgot he's an admirer of the Pompey way
  17. Can anyone tell me why any top or ambitious manager would want to come to a club which sells its best players, year on year? That must be why we are drawing blanks at the top and now looking down to Sheffield Wednesday. Please let me be wrong and I will be so happy to apologise
  18. Yes, It might be a surprise, remember the appointment of Paul Sturrock? Something like that perhaps.
  19. Pellegrini and his team were not helped last season by the announcement half way through that his successor was appointed. If that happened to me while I was still at work I would be angry, disillusioned and feel undermined and under valued. In fact it was disgraceful by any normal standard
  20. The age shouldn't be an issue, loads of top managers are older, the backroom staff would be important. He was treated disgracefully at City--appointing his successor while he was still in post--no wonder he had a mediocre season. If he gives us two good seasons that's fine by me. Hope the Board get on with it, sooner rather than later!
  21. Wanyama is no more of a mercenary than any of the others. The difference is that we will find him harder to replace than any of the others. Poch knows a good thing when he sees one, unfortunately
  22. If FdeB is back to top of thr list..cheers! My first choice, vast experience of managing, top player in his day, well known by our Dutch contingent, continues the Bercelona contact, sign of the club's great ambition but Eddie howe would be several steps down even if he is a nice guy.
  23. Giggs would never put his heart into Southampton, his head would always be somewhere else
  24. Lawrie Mac called Poch 'a young lad no one's heard of, who can't speak English' when he was appointed. LM is out of touch, out of date and bumbles on, sad really. I like to remember him in his prime, high ego but highly effective. Not now.
