Ditto. Not been a fan of RM, but we were good today, really good. He picked the right team, and managed the game well. A good day.
-
I like how he puts defending first, and attacking second, but that's not to say that he doesn't get forward. We're so much more solid down the left with him there.
-
Very happy with that. Pleasing not to see Manning waltz back in too.
-
If it stopped the settlements that they determined were illegal we may not be where we are. They didn't though, and although I I agree they are powerless, the vote shows world opinion.

Ha!! "Leave it to the big boys boss, sit back with a cuppa and a slice of cake, and enjoy the ride".
-
That's a very reasoned post to be fair. He's here to stay, and hopefully we see progress.
-
You sound like RM. Nobody is "desperate to find fault with him". People can support the team without being a fan of the manager. You know that.
-
Indeed, nice to reflect on some of those players though. I can just imagine that front 3, in its prime, in this league.

Yep, but Israel have a duty to protect civilians. They can't bomb a houseful of innocent people because a few Hamas members have once had a chat in the kitchen, but they do. But yep, nowt we can do. I agree that they'll subdue Hamas short term, but they'll rebrand and every Palestinian of fighting age will be desperate to sign up and have a crack at Israel. Sad state of affairs. Anyways, it's football today, so that's me done on politics.

We could go around all day about the motive Whelk. If it really is (at least in part) to make Israel safer, this action will achieve the opposite.
-
There's no redlines according to Biden, so the sky's the limit for Israel, sadly. Interesting press release from the Israeli air force this morning. They said their "goal is clear - to destroy everything touched by the hand of Hamas". That's pretty much all of Gaza, and somewhat different to Hamas members and Hamas infrastructure.

Getting away from the flirting/COVID nonsense, it's gone from awful to hellish in Gaza. Ambulances can't be called, so the drivers are just driving toward the explosions (bigger than before - different weapons seemingly being used). Carnage. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-middle-east-67246761?ns_mchannel=social&ns_source=twitter&ns_campaign=bbc_live&ns_linkname=653cb17f8ae7803bb6845422%26Bombardment in northern Gaza on 'a scale we've never seen before'%262023-10-28T07%3A01%3A06.139Z&ns_fee=0&pinned_post_locator=urn:asset:12b3ca02-f9cf-4e4e-85d7-2f720e7b5fa7&pinned_post_asset_id=653cb17f8ae7803bb6845422&pinned_post_type=share

I'm not sure people are calling for change. I didn't want RM because his history told me that we'd get ploddy football and a team that can't defend. RM has delivered on that, unfortunately. As much as I'm sure that we'd do better with a better manager (exhibit A - Ipswich), I'd stick with him this season and see where we are in the summer. If it's this league, he has to go. If we scrape promotion (play offs realistically) then he'd probably deserve a chance to see how he goes, but this football as it's currently being played would get torn to shreds by any PL team. In the meantime, I hope that he realises that he's here to serve the club and the fans. In yesterday's presser he made it a lot about him. That attitude, and the ego driven 'I'd rather die doing it my way rather than try another way that may be better' attitude, is not helpful for us or him. When someone isn't even willing to acknowledge that there could be another way, the signs aren't great.
-
Yep...it seems to be a too much about him to him. We're interested in the team and results.
-
I'd be happy with that team, but I think there's a case for Fraser down the right, AA through the middle, and SA fighting it out with Charlie for a place on the middle. Hopefully we'll see THB back.
-
Indeed. There's stuff that happens that gets no airtime over here in your daily newspapers and sky/BBC/itv news. You'll see different stuff elsewhere, and approached from a different perspective. Although Lighthouse is correct that theres no uniform approach from our media, there's a broadly common approach in terms of what's reported and not reported. Anyways, the thread has been sidetracked enough so I won't get into a media chat.
-
Exactly. We take an age to progress not very far, there's no real movement, the players run out of ideas, the ball gets lost, and boom were under pressure. The frustration is that the players caught upfield generally aren't in a position to cause damage had the ball reached them. The football is Puel esque for me, but with less solidity at the back.
-
No support, just staggered by the irony of you saying that LD's bigoted post is the worst thing you've ever seen on here, but on the same thread you go in with a bit of casual homophobia disguised by a laughing emoji. Glasshouses/bricks.
-
Gotcha. Sure they "could", in the same way that a nuclear country "could" have nuked anyone in the last 70 years. If Iran had any desire to lash out at the west (I still don't know where the idea comes from that they would do so) the wests military power, are reasons why Iran wouldn't dare have a serious nibble.
-
Says the poster who referred to RM being on Grindr! Glasshouses/bricks etc.
-
Yep, never good when the boss starts getting chippy at the pressers.
-
Ha!! Not obvious to me, hence needing to ask!! Give us a clue...
