I only log in the hope that talk of signing an another CB is interspersed with a lively debate about the Korean War. A man can only dream.

As we've been doing hypotheticals...replace Che with someone bang average who can play now, or someone better but who can't play for a couple of months? I'll take the latter.
-
Keep what we have... assuming ABK is fit to play. Tweak it as needed in January.

He came on at left back, had a mare, and was subbed. That would worry me if he was a left back. He's a right back.
-
Craftsman of old -(h)anydman"? - Andi. What kind of oil do you want...asked the Sheikh - Zeqiri. Coastal town noises - Southampton and Brighton. Clocks - Swiss. It's our man Andi Zeqiri, the Swiss lad from Brighton.

Yeah, but I want to know the correct answer!

Very interesting link... although I would be very surprised if he'd join a championship club.
-
I love a bit of catchphrase, but this has stumped me. Another clue please...

Our old boy Alfie Jones in there. He'd be a great addition for us.

I get that, but Manning is our first choice LB and won't be replaced by anyone - he's doing a good job, and will do better still when he gets some protection ahead of him. Personally, I'm not sold on Bree in an RM team as he's not a good enough footballer so I'd like an alternative RB, but I don't see anyone decent coming unless KWP goes. Feck knows what'll happen this week, but plenty will I'm sure of that.
-
Nobody else is joining us to play LB, and no decent RB is gonna come while we have KWP. We only need to consider a full back if KWP leaves. I'm not as pessimistic as you that he's on his way. I think it was one of him or Tino to leave.

We are not getting ripped apart down our left side because of Manning. The issue is Edozie's lack of cover. What Manning does bring is ability on the ball, and creativity. On balance, he's improved us massively imo.

Tella was always going, and until a few weeks ago, most people would have driven Adams as far away from here as possible. Whether another wide player actually arrives I'm not convinced, but we've essentially replaced Tella (a proven championship player) with Fraser (a proven championship and PL player). Sure, Adams has hit the ground running this season, and I agree that he needs adequately replacing. If he isn't, then we've got a problem, but the window is wide open, and I cannot imagine that we'll be left with a gaping hole at CF if Adams actually leaves.

I reckon Zeqiri is our man.
-
I thought he'd have been ok at this level. Slightly surprised we've loaned him out, especially with Stephens out.
-
He'll only have a year left when his loan has finished so not much chance of a decent transfer fee then unfortunately. He cost us €7.5m according to transfermarkt, so getting a decent chunk of that back would be nice.
-
Why the obsession with spending? Surely the objective is the right player? We can do with that without necessarily having to buy someone or spending loads of money - Fraser is a case in point. If we spend £10-15m on a player who's good enough to help get us up, but not good enough when we get there, people will then whine that we've signed players who aren't good enough for the PL. How's that better than a loan?
-
I was talking about the signings so far.
-
I suppose it might be if you're a pessimist. Personally, I like what I've seen so far of Manning, Charles, Fraser and Downes and can only imagine they'll etc better. Holgate will be decent too imo.
-
Blimey Del, there's a limit to the mans talents!
-
I don't doubt that. I like the strategy of ready to hit the ground running buys and loans, alongside potential but with the ability to play now. We've done brilliantly with our signings this window.
-
There's different perspectives on this. Either we're using receipts to cover the cost of relegation and last season's outlay, or we've made a profit. I'm in little doubt that it's the former and that we haven't got cash to splash. Even if we had the money though, give me Fraser on loan over that winger from Gent for €10m, ditto Holgate over some unknown from Belgium or Scotland. If those 2 work out, there's probay a deal to be done after this season.
-
Why do we need to buy? Who can we realistic attract who'll be good enough to get us up AND good enough for the PL? I don't want us to be stuck with players on long deals who are not good enough when we're back to the promised land. We'd be back to square one.
