That's a shameful comment. The bloke has taken the opportunity of a lifetime, on life changing money. Nobody can blame him for it, and no decent human being should want his career to be destroyed because of it.

Pilchards doesn't strike me as BS merchant. He posts in good faith, but that doesn't mean that what he hears is correct.

Fair point!! I suspect those Burnley players had calves bigger than the thighs of our lads!

Similar, but with round pegs in round holes, organisation, respect of the players, motivated players, and some kind of plan. Apart from that, him and Jones are exactly the same.

The cups don't bother me. What does is a lost week for another manager to work something on the training pitch, and help get players in that'll improve our chances of staying up.

What he meant by entitled is an unrealistic expectation. He's right in that respect, but that's different to expecting to achieve what we're capable of.

There's a big difference I think in coming in from the cold to try to bring a relegated team up, and taking them down then trying to take them back.

Not sure you read my post mate "we're entitled to better than the shite players, management and attitude that we've got at the moment". Results and performances flow from that.

No drama. Personally, I wouldn't waste the month and the transfer window on him. I'd bite the bullet now. As for Dyche. He's been there and done it successfully. Jones hasn't, and doesn't look like he can. I'm relaxed about Doswell speaking out. He did that as a fan, not as a manager lashing out against a fellow manager. Personally I have no issue with Blackmore either. He called the fans entitled - spot on - many are. That said, we're entitled to better than the shite players, management and attitude that we've got at the moment.

I think his Lyanco comment was slightly tongue in cheek. That said, players who've played for us over the recent ish past are struggling to get off the bench at national league level - Hesketh at Eastleigh and Vokins at Woking. I'm not convinced that Lyanco has more quality than those 2.

I get all that, but for me, it's no more complicated than the club were too slow to sack Ralph, and hired an inferior manager to replace him. Sure, the squad is poor, but our best XI is capable of better performances and results than we're seeing.
  13. I'd like those voting to keep Jones to explain why, and how they believe he can improve performances and results. I can't see a single positive.

The truth is they're on similar levels. Don't let the levels that they are managing at fool you otherwise. Doswell (and his sidekick Ian Baird) are punching well below their managerial weight. They could manage at a much higher level but their respective business interests limit them to part time local roles. They've done brilliantly everywhere they've been, and only dropped from Sutton to Havant to be close to home/business. Jones on the other hand is punching well above his weight, and is literally out of his league.

That is one damning interview. Blackmore sticking the boot in too. Doswell didn't go as far as to say that him and Ian Baird would do a better job than Jones and his assistant, but the sad truth is that they wouldn't do any worse.
  16. As good as this lad looks, we're relying on Jones to coach him and use him properly.
  17. No idea. But owner or employees, it's on them.
  18. Because it's their club, not ours.

Genuinely, that wouldn't be any worse, and Jones is on their level. Scary.

It'll be money and ego holding them back. Would they admit their mistake? Would they be willing to pay the compensation to get rid on top of the compo they paid to hire him in? As much as I don't subscribe to the crazy "they want relegation" idea, I think that if they stick with him, they're accepting that it's a reality and won't throw money at trying to stay up.

I get your point, and I think a lot has to do with the dressing room respecting the manager, ie his name, track record and reputation. Big egos want and need a bit of gravitas to manage them. Frank gained that respect and bought it with him to the premier league. There'll always be an exception though - Vincent Kompany could walk into a premier league club tomorrow and have the respect of the dressing room from the start.

Yep. No issue with hiring from the championship at all. But signing kids, some schooled in Pep's style, then hiring a manager who makes Allardyce's football look like it's from the future, is mental.

That's a daft comment. No football club owner wants relegation. They just seem clueless and as out of their depth as he is.

This is retrogression. We're much worse than we have been in many years. It's sub Pellegrino.

I've never seen a poster argue with himself before!! Ralph out by the way. Clueless, and turning us into an embarrassment.
