Agreed. Really poor move for the lad. He followed Jones but saw him leave, expected to play but didn't , hoped to stay up but went down being passed by Luton on the way. You couldn't make up how it's panned out for him. As you say, hopefully he picks up a decent move.

He'll offer versatility that's for sure. Bree just isn't suited to RM's way - he looked like a fish up a tree when he stepped into midfield in pre season. Holgate coming in will see Bree gone I'd imagine.

As things stand we'll be paying those players millions to rarely, if ever, play them. They'll go, and just getting them off our wage bill will have a financial boost for us. Sometimes it's a case of cutting losses.

I struggle with this. Last season the intention was top drawer - they spent a fortune. The execution, mostly from Ankersen, was terrible. SR have clearly acknowledged that Ankersen isn't the man to right the wrongs. He's been shipped off to Turkey, and Wilcox and Mowbray have come in. Suggesting that last season's off the field mistakes will be replicated by new people makes as much sense as suggesting that RM will make the same mistakes on the field as our various managers.

They want/need PL money more than me and you want to see us being thumped 5 nil at City. Personally I have no issue with loans. Players coming in, bedding in for a season, playing a season, then being sold are no more 'our player' than someone can come in and hit the ground running for a season. I think the finances are tight tbh, we wasted a fortune and need to balance. I think that our strategy this season is sound. SR know what we need for this season, and I'm confident we'll get it.

Behave. All 3 have been signed on Wilcox watch. All 3 are decent.

I don't know how you interpret that as saying that what he receive from transfers is all to be spent on transfers. Anyways the point is that it's not a matter of how much we spend, or even if we buy it loan. It's simply about assembling a squad that RM is happy with and that will get us promoted.

Here I am. Last season was Ankersen's turn to do the deals. He got nearly everything wrong. This season it's Wilcox. Convince me that he's done anything wrong so far and I may join you at the panic station. Different seasons. Different people. It'll be a different outcome. Relax.

That's a fallacy. We spent a load of money the last 2 windows. People assume that we're like someone who's just had a paycheck and now can spend it all. In reality I reckon we're like someone who's got to use their paycheck to pay tick and debt, and only has a few quid left for food and petrol, and has to sell some clothes on vinted to buy new ones, or will have to borrow their mates.

They're a football club who lost their manager and coaching team to us, and were sore over the whole thing. If they want to sell a player l, and we're the only bidder in town, I'd take that point. Otherwise, for this season at least, I don't think they'll want to do business with us. Cutting off noses to spite faces happens across all sectors of business - naive to think it's a primary school thing.
-
Thing is, that leaves only Lyanco as back up at CB.
-
Holgate isn't the answer for me. We need a proper old fashioned CB, but who can use the ball properly. Holgate is more a sweeper type.
-
I honestly don't think Swansea would do business with us unless we make them a stupendous offer.
-
Probably... but I live in hope!

One of the players may have had a better approach since the idea was first mooted.

I'll take a look. What I did take from the BBC extract was the impact on his mental health. Going to work and knowing that you're likely to get pelted on social media, threats, etc, afterwards must be bloody awful.
-
Ah, that's solved that one now! Thanks.

He's not being honest. He starts by saying he "missed" the hair pull, but then goes on to say that he basically bottled sending his mate to review it. If they're gonna keep VAR, do it like rugby, and just focus on getting the right decision.

The first one is driving me nuts...is that a squash at the start?
-
Exactly. Manning has played for RM, and he knows exactly what to do. He steps into midfield comfortably, and is great on the ball. He's offered loads going forwards, anf generally in possession. My point when mentioning him though was to show that Wilcox signings have been decent. We're stronger at LB this season than we were last - Perraud and Manning give us more strength in that position that Perraud and Djenepo, who we stil have if we need to use him.
-
What does it matter what some people on a forum thought we'd spend? What does the amount that we spend matter? Surely it's about having a squad after the window closes that RM is happy with, and that's good enough to get us promoted.
-
I understood that, hence my comment about what did you expect them to do. They were always going to sell our best players. So far I'm happy with the replacements, although we're definitely a CB short on the assumption that we won't see ABK for whatever reason. SR totally messed up last season. Had Ankersen been in charge of the football side this season I think it would have been another shit show. That he's not, and that Wilcox has imo done a cracking job so far, is why I'm confident. Let's see where we are in a week or so 🤞🙏🤞

You were complaining about us selling our best players. It's obvious that would have happened. We've replaced Lavia with another kid from the same conveyor belt. He looks decent. We've replaced JWP with a player who knows this league, knows RM style, and who I think will offer no less than JWP in open play. We've sold Salisu who didn't want to play for us. We've sold we've brought in Manning who'll create loads and has made our left side better than it was last year. That, and more, has happened on Wilcox's watch. I'm not sure what Wilcox has done to make you doubt him. Anyways, none of us can do anything about what happens in the rest of the window. If we're up shit creek come September, that's the time to be concerned.

Err...players. shit ones. Wages. Putting our hands in our pockets to move players on. Debt. It's bloody obvious where the money has gone.
