    James Ward-Prowse

Which top 6 side would sign him, and play him? I honestly can't think of one. The issue I have with him is that he needs a bit more time than top players need, thus he tends to slow the game.

    Booze

I don't get non alcoholic drinks. Alcohol is usually consumed for the effect, and the taste is a secondary thing. When I drank, I never drank a alcoholic drink because it was more refreshing and tastier than a soft drink. Now I don't drink, I choose the drink that I prefer the taste of - a chemically beer with the alcohol taken out has no appeal whatsoever.

The whole war was unjustified western interference based largely on wmd bullshit. Civilians died in it, and the fall out was/is immense. It's a discussion I cba to get into though cos I can see that we'll be going around in circles.

Compromise never involves one side backing down completely. One absolute certainty is that the war will continue if Russia and Ukraine both insist on getting the 4 annexed areas plus Crimea. Whilst Ukraine shouldn't have to give an inch (literally) the reality is that something has to give on both sides - that's the nature of the beast.

Really?? I won't waste my time mate.

Matter of opinion mate. We smashed it up because we felt justified in doing so.

The issue is where there can be compromise. Crimea seems a given, but Russia will need Ukraine to cede more to come to the table. A ruler and a pencil are needed, but there needs to be a willingness to give and take which I don't sense is there at the mo.

    We did ok in Iraq.

It's a battle on various fronts. Part of that is absolutely about grinding down the Ukrainian people. No sense having battlefield scraps in a cold winter when you can smash a country up, and the morale of its people.

No. The train of thought is that badger's metric of success (territory gain) will not be a metric that will cross the mind of a Ukrainian in Lviv or Kyiv (areas which will inevitably stay in Ukrainian control) without water or electricity in freezing temperatures.
  11. Agreed. Caleta-Car should be our first choice CB. Experienced and a talker. Caballero gets in by default for me - Bazunu needs taking out of the firing line, and McCarthy is McCarthy. We need a proper clear out and an injection of fresh blood. The problem is that we have to many players that aren't good enough for us, it for anyone else who'd meet the wages.

I suspect that thought doesn't cross their mind when it's minus 4 and they have no electricity or water. The western metric is not necessarily theirs.

It's completely unacceptable, but it's a tactic that's easy for Russia to deploy, especially in winter. The reality is that Ukraine is being destroyed, it's people suffering, and I'd hazard a guess that morale amongst Ukrainian citizens and soldiers is dwindling. The al Jazeera news feed today makes grim reading. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/liveblog/2022/12/29/russia-ukraine-live-lavrov-rejects-zelenskyys-peace-formula

Territory gain is one metric of war "success". If you're living in Lviv, Kherson or Odessa today, you don't give a shit who's in charge of some village in south eastern Ukraine.

Yep. All this they're running dry talk is irritating. Ditto that Ukraine are winning. It must be bloody awful being a Ukrainian knowing that more missiles will come, more homes and lives will be lost, and that they'll be without electricity and water for god knows how long.

Jeez. They annihilated us all over the park. They could have had 5 at least and eased up. We were lucky to get 1. There's nothing more to understand than we all witnessed.

He played 5 x systems. Not easy to implement anything, or trust in it, when the manager seems so unclear what he wants the players to do.

I instinctively read that in a welsh accent and it sounded like an NJ press conference. Dunno who you are, but your account was registered 3 days before NJ was announced. You ain't just some dude who met him at a charity dinner. Whoever you are, tactics of let them have the ball, chase them around picking up scraps, hoofing it long for a big man to feed a little man, isn't going to win matches at this level.

Ely...who would you rather a decent ish chance fell to, him Djenepo, Edozie or Aribo? Ely for me...less wasteful of those 4 too. He's average, but he can play and works hard. I can see why he's played ahead of others.

Round pegs in round holes though. Shit pegs admittedly.
  23. Lyanco in midfield is a crazy idea. He's a CB, and an average one at that. JWP is not a wide player. ABK looked unfit and overweight in the Lincoln game. If he's match ready I'd start him over Lyanco.
  24. Yes, but only if we'd play him. He has confidence at the moment and an injection of that into the squad won't hurt. If he wasn't our player, looking at what he's done at Burnley this season, we'd be delighted to get him in the window.
  25. Can you throw in a cup win as a cherry on top please?
