Agreed. I didn't agree with the squad, or the first Xl, and thought leaving Grealish or Foden out against Ukraine was nuts. Southgate knows what he's doing though, and he's used his squad amazingly. To think that we did that last night without Foden or Grealish getting a single minute, and with half the team getting a breather from fairly early on. Credit to Southgate and I'm happy to say I was wrong. Rice and Phillips have indeed been outstanding, but Southgate won't be afraid to sacrifice one of them if he feels that Henderson can offer more in the semi, and/or the final if we make it.

I get that, and we'll still agree to differ about him. My gut feeling is that he may leave this summer just because we need the money. The highlighted part doesn't relate to my opinion.

It's a mixed league so I guess he'll have some games where he can get forward more, and others where he'll be tested defensively. He's shown promise and needs games somewhere. Either way, it has to be better than a season of b team games, bench warming and a couple of cup games. Hopefully he does well.

But what you're not sharing is stats on the areas of the pitch where he plays the ball, where he finds space, the time it takes him to release the ball, how much he breaks between the lines, etc. They're areas for me where JWP is behind the lads in the England team, and the best in class. He's good, but not brilliant, and that's why some people are saying that we'll be OK without him and could arguably improve if we sell him high and spend well.

I've thought the same, and I think one answer may be to do what rugby does and stop the clock selectively. If that last 6 mins was actual football playing time, it would have been much more interesting for the fans.
