I think you underestimate the importance of confidence, ditto motivation. Regardless, I think you're wrong to believe that Ralph needs time and/or that he can turn things around. It just ain't going to happen. Get him gone, and get some new energy and ideas onto the training pitch.

Perhaps motivate the players to give that bit more, coach or give them the confidence to stick with their man/claim that cross/finish. Too easy to make excuses. He's a busted flush.

Behave. Shields was a massive appointment for us. Ridiculously well thought of in young player recruitment, and we lured him from City - you make out that replacing him like for like is as simple as popping an ad in a shop window. The fact that he left 4 months in suggests something ain't right.

People looked at the perceived potential of the signings and got excited. Then reality struck and they realised that we'd signed talented kids who, collectively, weren't going to improve us anytime soon. I get where he's coming from and I don't think there's an inconsistency.
