  1. He's not a sufficiently big player to do a VVD and sit back pending the next window, he needs to put himself in the window. Whether his ego allows him to understand that is another matter though.
  2. Yep, no brainer. He needs to be in the shop window, we need quality in midfield.
  3. Yep, completely agree. Bigger / more successful businesses have no responsibility towards smaller /mismanaged businesses. Its a bit like saying that Amazon and Ebay should help out smaller online businesses in trouble, or that McDonald's and Greggs should have a whip round to save smaller ailing take away businesses. The bottom line is that businesses fail, its a sad fact of life.
  4. BBC article says "League One will comprise of 23 clubs for the rest of the season, with only three teams to be relegated". Suggests Bolton live to fight on.
  5. Matt Targett off injured in the 1st half for Villa. That lad has no luck.
  6. Agreed. Crazy thing to do, there was no need to risk anyone . Obafemi and Long up front all day long in this tournament.
  7. Was said in the build up thread that Hoj filling in at LB.
  8. I'm not sure it's all over yet, still offers on the table.
  9. He can but I'm guessing he's at right back if we have someone else filling in on the left. Sensible choice would have been Vokins if he was felt good enough.
  10. Interesting. Vokins playing last night perhaps means that RH doesn't fancy him to step up yet.
  11. He missed the Derby game too but if fit I think he'll play, probably DM. I think will also see a random youngster or two, perhaps Hansen on the bench. Impossible to predict but it could be something as random as.... McCarthy Stephens Hoedt Yoshida Cedric O'Connor Armstrong Boufal Djenepo Obafemi Long
  12. He didn't compare Boufal to MLT. He made the point that they're both flair payers, and then highlighted some of the differences. To a large extent I agree with Useful Idiot. Boufal is the most talented player in our squad by a distance. However, he's not our best player because he doesn't seem able to translate that talent to being an effective team player over 90 mins. If he could be then we've got one hell of a player.
  13. Behave. It was a pass, put it on a plate for him
  14. We're not that good. Shocking performance. So disjointed.
  15. Not wanting to take certain moves is very different to not wanting to play. He may have refused moves for all sorts of good reasons. Not sure how you lurch from that to assuming the fella didn't want to play.
  16. Get to a game sometime, you'll hopefully get to see you what actually happens.
  17. It's not as simple as that as I'm sure you appreciate. If/where he plays depends who we're playing and form of other players. We could go with 3 up top and he'd go out wide with 2 of Adams, Redmond or Ings. If we set up like we did today its hard to find a place for him.

    1. That's not what was said. 2. An "investment" is not sinking personal monies into a football club. Dumping cash into a footy club for it to sign players ain't an investment.
  19. Better perhaps, but we need pace against Liverpool so Long is much better suited than Ings imo.
  20. Have Cardiff paid the transfer fee yet?
  21. I was. I agree that we're short at defensive mid but I just don't think Reed is up to standard. Slattery is more of an 8 or 10 so he won't offer cover for defensive midfield and and as you say he's more likely to cover more attack minded players. Reed's level is the championship and he's probably a decent cash cow - cost us nothing but other clubs pay him and give us a loan fee. Hopefully he'll do well again this season and get himself a decent move.
  22. You question whether Slattery is good enough but advocate playing a 24 year old who, if good enough, would have made it by now. Having Slattery as our main back up doesn’t suddenly make Reed a PL player.
  23. He's not good enough and it's not helping the lad to keep him around just in case he gets a few minutes here and there.
  24. I'm with you on the last part, Vest is shocking and Stephens just not a PL player. Can't agree on Bednarek though, he's decent and if we're going 4 at the back then I'd pair him with Yoshida who should be playing. The new lad may be decent, but a debut as part of a new back 4 against Liverpool is no time to experiment. Cedric in a 4 is a no from me. Although he has pace, his lack of height would be a major issue, especially of he's marking Origi. Alexander - Arnold would ping crosses to that back post all afternoon.
  25. So a change to a 4 from a 3 at the back, with 3 changes of players, 1 of then to a returning Hoedt or a debutant 20 year old, and dropping Bednarek who was the only CB who emerged from Burnley game with any credit. I know we all differ in opinion, but that's nuts.
