  1. Yes there's acceptance by me. Acceptance of the reality of where we are. Acceptance of FFP. Acceptance that we have fans like you that have no grip on reality. I haven't got time to get involved in a long exchange with you and others on this point but ask yourself how you feel we can attract and keep players like vvd who are clearly destined for the top even if we're never gonna hit the top. On that point actually read about and understand FFP. Fans completely overlook that but because of it wmwe will never be able to compete at the very top even if we had the cash and the ambition. If you have time to watch a move take a look at layer cake. The big boys are Gambon, we're the fella who gets shot.
  2. This. The best players want to play for the best clubs. We're good not the best. VVD did not come here for the rest of his career. Neither did Mane, Lovren , Wanyama etc. The club knew that and I have no doubt that the players came here on the basis that they would get Premier league experience, develop as players and get a move to one of the big boys subject to the terms. There's nothing wrong with that and in return we get a good player for a short term and a profit. This model gives us the ability to sign some very good and talented players. Our fan base need to recognise that we ain't Barca, Man Utd, or even Spurs or Liverpool.
  3. Personally I'd be impressed if our under 21 can emulate what our all star team did in our league 1 days. Shows we've come a long way.

    Virgil van Dijk

Del, those two would be unbelievable. World's best pairing without a doubt. I'm not sure who's the best of the two but probably Toby is the best defender and Virgil the best footballer. Flank them with Clyne and Bertrand or Shaw and you've got the best back 4 in the league by a mile. Yes I know we have to sell and rebuild but we buy and build squads, for a profit, better than anyone.

    Virgil van Dijk

I think he's superb and possibly better than Mark Wright who until Virgil moved to the next level this season was the best saints CB I've ever seen, and we've had some great ones. He's like a David Luiz who can actually defend.
  6. He has. For Southend he was used up front through the middle, and as FF says he played up top for our u21's. In his youth days he was more of a winger.
  7. Its a scratch team of mainly youngsters and fringe players against pretty much the Sunderland first 11. Ffs you are one miserable bloke.
  8. Worth £16m. Class.
  9. Pulse sports has it. Poor ish quality but watchable.
  10. I'd take that in a heartbeat. That would be a superb tro. Redmond, Tadic's and a striker who can run and finish ahead of them and that would be one hell of a team.

  12. Yes. As good as Romeu is, Morgan is a big step up.

    Gary Lineker

To be fair blindness would probably be the only excuse for not spotting that some of them were at least 30.
  15. I've read through this thread and wish I hadn't! The outcome of the brexit vote was clear. Brexit won. Some will like that and others won't. Either way, the vote had given the government to press the article 50 button and brexit. There's a need to do that by 31/3 otherwise we surrender more of our sovereignty hence that is the deadline. This 'but only x % of the electorate only voted brexit' argument is utter ******. This ain't the playground where you lose paper, scissor, stone and protest that you should get another chance. This is a grown up democracy. Of those who got off their backside and voted the bulk said leave in an election without a vote or majority threshold. The rules have been compiled with and you can't change them after the event. With everything said, and as a brexiter, the fall out and likely problems going forward makes me question whether my decision was sensible. However, me and millions of others made the same (possibly wrong) decision but we made it and we've gotta implement it. It could be a nightmare but hey ho.

Good link. As per my post, people think not guilty means proved innocent when it means nothing like that. Then there are people LGTL and Lord duckhunter who extend that to think that the aggrieved must have been lying and/or that there has been a miscarriage of justice. Harry was found not guilty, oj Simpson was too. I doubt any of us honestly felt that either had been stitched up. As an aside, I once had a busy defence criminal law practice. Of the many clients who I secured acquittals for it's a real possibility that none were innocent, despite all being found not guilty.

What for? He's not been proved innocent. Rather, and as per the cps statement , the jury couldn't be sure beyond reasonable doubt that there was sufficient evidence to prove his guilt. Hopefully we'll get the Scottish 'not proven' option one day.
  18. Hart is better than Forster Walker better than our RB's Henderson arguably better than Clasie, Davis and JWP Dier an upgrade on Romeu, just Ali is brilliant and would be accommodated Sturridge imo is a better option (if fit) than Redmond or Long up top.
  19. Stream available through bet365
  20. Minor issue that he's a loon who's under contract elsewhere and the transfer window is shut.
  21. Our French speaking ex centre back who looks after the under 23's will step up imo. He's been more closely involved with the first team set up so should be seamless.
  22. Agreed that he was a motivator but that's not what the kids need. They need to be coached to improve as players. Doddsy and Williams couldn't develop them as players hence they went. Yes Doddsy served us proud but that doesn't mean he's a great youth coach - his absence from the pro game says it all.
  23. The Flying Dutchman opposite the casino near Oxford Street. Good beer and big screens. My new favourite footy pub.
  24. Quite. Dodd and Williams were poor coaches. They had the respect of the kids as they'd been there and done it, particularly Dodd. They were also good at was keeping the kids grounded. The kids loved them but that did not make them good at the important bit of making them better players.
  25. I've got a Blackburn supporting mate who describes him as a quicker more mobile Chris Sutton. Reckons he looks very comfortable at that level.
