  1. There's only two words I want to hear from NJ now: "I resign". There's literally no excuse and god clearly isn't willing...
  2. Jones needs to resign - there shouldn't be any sort of compensation for this level of incompetence. Hopefully his in-laws will have a word...
  3. Having taken time to reflect on yesterday's performance, what worries me most about the current situation is SR seem to have thrown away "the Southampton way" in favour of a more direct/long ball approach which we are poorly equipped for and could require a rebuild of the club's playing staff from top to bottom. For me it feels like the wrong time and circumstances for a significant change like this. I'm not sure why NJ believes that was a good performance (aside from the two moments we switched off) - while the second half was better than the 1st we really were poor on the ball for most of the game and seemed to be far too content to let Fulham play - although admittedly we did have more than a couple of decent chances. If this is what good looks like then I can see NJ's tenure being very difficult even if he starts to get some results. On a positive note where NJ is concerned at least there was a semblance of a plan. With the new SR approach, I do wonder if we're going to be able to attract the same calibre of technically able players (like Lavia and Edozie) and whether we may switch our attentions to more physical athletic players instead? I guess January will be pretty revealing...
  4. Yes, but fortunately the club has become part of fabric of something much bigger irrespective of religion, race, sexuality, ... So I'm not sure what point you are trying to make?
  5. To be fair it is NJ that time and again brings religion into the conversation... Football is no place for religion (or politics for that matter). Sometimes an appointment is clearly wrong on day one; it was wrong with Branfoot, wrong with Wigley, wrong with Gray, wrong with Pellegrino... Are fans not entitled to recognise the signs and call it out for what they think it is?
  6. Which suggests either he hasn't been able to inspire the players and get them onside or we haven't managed to recruit high quality premier league players who are capable of learning (at least the basics of) a new system in 6 weeks. I know where my money is.
  7. He clearly isn't, but with him in charge doing what he had been doing I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have lost to Brighton and we would grind a win or two out of the next two games - but it would be painful watching. With Jones in charge I'm doubtful we'll get any points out of the next 2 which are games we simply have to get points from if we want to stay up.
  8. You forgot the bit where he says: I haven't got a turd polisher or any other sort of polisher, so I guess the best I can do is recall Jan bednarek as he's a turd and also polish
  9. Having had 24 hours to calm down and be more objective about yesterday's performance I'm genuinely worried. While I understand the opinions that our team aren't great actually I think we could have put out an 11 that could have competed with Brighton - they're a decent well organised side, but hardly the pinnacle of the premier league, but sadly we had 4 or 5 players in the starting 11 who shouldn't be anywhere near our first team. To me this suggests NJ hasn't got a clue what he's doing. The numerous tactical changes also backed up the lack of any sort of plan - almost like he was making it up as he goes along. To think this level of cluelessness was preceded by 6 weeks of intense preparation. NJ's interview after the game was most worrying - he looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights, almost in tears, admitting that the players weren't following his instructions and offering very little to suggest things are going to get better. After 6 weeks he should have been able to get one game playing his way from the players. It looks like he hasn't been able to get the players onside. I had hoped for a small glimmer of hope, some evidence of a plan or a change in a positive direction. Sadly now I'd welcome Ralph back to save the day (which is something I'd thought I'd never say).
  10. Nathan Jones you've been here too long...
  11. Dogshit goalkeeping and dogshit defending from lyanco. Lyanco and Diallo having poor games so far.
  12. Couldnt agree more with the formation, but can't help feeling we'll play to our weaknesses and go 3-5-2.
  13. My hope is he's being pragmatic while he's working out how to get the best out of the players at his disposal plus whomever we manage to sign in the window and we'll see something better at the end of January. Worst case is the Lincoln performance is as good as it gets, but again my hope is that SR have seen enough to suggest this won't be the case. He certainly deserves some time to implement his ideas.
  14. I'm trying to stay positive and hoping we'll be pleasantly surprised by a much improved performance and some exciting and intelligent football.
  15. How did that work for us tonight? 3 centre backs compromises us in attack and relies on us having good players up front. When one of our attacking players is Armstrong we really are in trouble. I was hoping Jones might have something a bit better in his locker - hopefully he has a plan B.
  16. Oh goody more 5 at the back shite - I wonder if this is the Sport Republic way and it was forced on Ralph earlier in the season?
  17. Redmond and Tella back from loan spells???
  18. Agreed. While I get why people are underwhelmed by his appointment I find it bizarre that some people are desperately looking for any opportunity to criticise him. What I do find odd is why the club have decided to put this video out there? Seems ill judged to me.
  19. I hope I'm proven wrong, but I've not seen anything in Armstrong that suggests the premier league is his level. He thinks far too slowly and doesn't seem aware of what's happening around him. He's got workrate and pace, but he needs a bit more to be effective at this level.
  20. Agreed - I just hope he can deliver on what he's saying.
  21. While I'm sceptical about NJ being the right candidate I'm coming round to the idea that he might be a gamble worth taking; he does seem to have a plan and is being realistic about how he'll bring in changes. If he doesn't get backed in January to get a decent striker it won't really matter.
  22. I don't mind poor football if it is used to get a occasional result, but watching dire hoofball week in week out when we lose more than we win is depressing as hell. For me good football is a joy to watch even if we lose as long as we're competitive and I feel like we have a chance - I long ago got over losing more than we win.
  23. I don't think it is out of line to raise concerns us choosing a manager who hasn't got an inspiring track record, whose teams play an unpopular style of football and who seems to be lacking inspirational qualities (just watch his interviews). We may not be a big premier league club, but we are a struggling club in the biggest league and therefore I would expect someone who oozes leadership, has an exciting brand of football and some experience of working successfully under the spotlight. Were you happy when we brought in Ian Branfoot or Paul Sturrock?
  24. I simply can't believe that Nathan Jones is the man the club has had lined up for some time as we've been led to believe. He seems like a big gamble to me at the wrong time, plus from what I've read so far he plays a brand of football that I'd hoped I'd never see again at saints.
  25. He's not wrong though is he? like it or not we're a small premier league club with small investment who try and punch above our weight by unearthing talented young players. Unless we have a dramatic change in investment we will still lose 15 games a season. This doesn't mean I support him saying it....
