  1. If Adkins goes I would expect the replacement to have some experience managing in the PL or equivalent foreign league (La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga). Swapping one manager that needs time to learn the ropes at this level for another one would be a waste of time.
  2. I don't like this idea, let's hope the journalist writing this is a hack.
  3. Speaking of Shaw, what's happened to him? He played that cup match, then he was "ill" and he hasn't been near the first team since.
  4. Aside from Clyne and Davis (Who I think has done OK), none of the other signings have had a real run in the side either through injuries (Ramirez) or because they've been shunted around the side to cover injuries/fit the new system (Yoshida/Rodriguez). Also I think Mayuka has looked promising off the bench and think he should get a chance to start over Puncheon, who seems to waste every good attacking position he gets into.
  5. Certainly a million miles better than we currently have.
  6. We may find out in the summer...
  7. This is true, his recent club football roles include; Charlton - Came in as "coach" under Dowie in relegation season, takes charge after Dowie is sacked, earns title of worst manager in history in a six game spell before leaving. Fulham - Coach under Lawrie Sanchez, oversaw the worst side Fulham have had since being in Prem. Southampton - Not looking good so far. Big indictment of Cortese that he let someone with such a poor record have any influence at the club.
  8. If cortese is choosing the tactics, while possessing limited knowledge of the game as some have heard. You have to wonder who is advising him in this regard? What level of influence does Les Reed hold over these tactics?
  9. "We play 4-3-3" - Nigel Adkins.
  10. Can't get us achieving any less than we are at the moment. If the current manager is allowing the Chairman to run rampant and pick the team and tactics unopposed as rumoured, there's only going to be one outcome.
  11. Maybe we need to bring in a manager who isn't afraid to fight his corner if the rumours are true and NC is imposing his will upon the tactics and team selection.
  12. IF Cortese wants to get rid of Adkins, he should do it sooner rather than later so whoever comes in can get to know the squad and figure out which players he wants to replace in January.
  13. Why did Boruc play? He clearly isn't match sharp yet. Why did the team start hacking Carroll? He was no threat first half but suddenly we started trying to kick him up in the air and conceded costly set pieces.
  14. Wasteful when we've gone forward, but we look much better defensively at the moment. Hooiveld has Carroll in his pocket and Yoshida looks more comfortable at LB than he did at RB against Fulham.
  15. Adam Blackmore ‏@bigadamsport Lambert dropped by #saintsfc - in the bench . Clyne back at RB , Yoshida will start LB, Jos at CB, Guly on left - Boruc debut in goal
  16. Adam Blackmore has tweeted that Guly is starting down the left. So at the very least Rodriguez is playing in his proper position.
  17. I hope we aren't looking to play on the counter today, the team isn't anywhere near good enough at soaking up pressure to do it properly.
  18. For me if Guly has to start the formation should be; Punch--------Guly--------Lallana -------------Lambert------------ NA's idea that he should be Lambert's replacement is mind-boggling.
  19. Lunacy from Adkins, especially if Guly plays CF and Rodriguez gets played down the left.
  20. Fills me with dread that statement as the only real "shock in the team" in my eyes would be dropping Lallana or Lambert.
  21. We'll dominate early on and score before going to pieces and conceding 2 or 3 in a 15 minute period. 2-1 loss at best. We're lousy at the back and lack the mental strength to dig in when it gets tough.
  22. Can kind of understand why Lambert came off, he start out well but as the game went on he faded badly, was doing nothing when he went off. The worst sub was the one he was forced to make. 1 OG, one deflection and a fair few individual errors. Just a shame the Clyne and Cork, who can cover at RB are both injured.
  23. Horror show from Hooiveld even discounting the OG and the deflection on the second, need to hope Clyne & Fraser recover during the break.
  24. Given the rest of the games tomorrow a win can put us up to 14th at best (though I think Liverpool will win so should we win we'll probably go up to 15th) and have mid-table sides in striking distance.
  25. Today the court overturned an injunction taken out by Freddie Starr against ITV to prevent his name being mentioned in relation to the Savile accusations, specifically this allegation; http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/i-saw-jimmy-savile-and-gary-1359297
