True. But that is what makes footbalL so unique and exciting. The worst team can sometimes win ! That is what makes going to a football match so exciting ! That is why when we played Coventry there was always the doubt. More importantly, that is why the ecstasy of scoring a goal and winning is so much more heightened in a football match. That is why when 2 goals up and with 10 minutes to go we still chew our nails, or if we are 2 down we still have hope. Football is a wonderful game to follow and around the world cannot be equalled for its passion and excitement ! THE BEAUTIFUL GAME !

Lots of sense on this thread. Hoddle was by far our best manager and could have taken us forward again in 2004. Pity that some of the mindless minorty had different ideas. Not, that they like to be reminded of their part in the near destruction of SFC.

I have to say that Duckhunter's thread makes a lot of sense. I would have preferred it if we had never lost our premier status but I have to say there are some fantastic clubs and supporters in League 1 and the NPC. Saints did learn a bit of humility and i still have the greatest respect and affection for some of the clubs we played, especially in League 1. As many have mentioned, if we go down again, there is no need to feel depressed !

Nice to see some sense here. Congratulations to Adkins and Pardew. But, Glenn Hoddle voted our best PREMIERSHIP MANAGER. Pity that Hoddle's re-appointment was rejected by the vocal minority !

I wish we had added more years to our 27 unbroken years in the top flight. It was something to be proud of and would have given us a certain status amongst the big clubs that we are still yet to achieve and won't do for another 5 to 10 years !

Fair play that you admit being against Hoddle in 2004. Rationally you would have to say that Hoddle would have stood a much better chance of keeping the club in the Premiership. Yes, we were very very luck when Marcus stepped in.

Depends on who we sign over the summer. If we show modest ambition then 4th from bottom would be a success !

Further, the article is excellent in the way it clearly traces back the debacle of appointing Sturrock over Hoddle. Sturrock was an appalling appointment who was well our of his depth. It is more obvious than ever that Hoddle had been lined up for the Saints job and with good reason. Had Hoddle been appointed I expect we would have continued our long ruin in the league to this day. of course, the minority that caused the board to get 'cold feet' to this day, and despite my long campaign have either gone in to denial or have attempted to bury the whole episode in a mire of untruths. You can see why they have attempted to ridicule likes of my campaign. However, it must be galling as I continue to hold forth the torch of truth !
