  1. Last year, we bypassed the tour operators and booked 2 weeks at the all-inclusive San Antonio hotel in Malta directly through their website https://www.dbhotelsresorts.com/dbsanantonio/. We then booked Ryan air flights from Bournemouth to get us there and back. I must admit that I was a bit nervous about booking a holiday abroad without the security of a tour operator – especially with 2 young kids, but It all worked perfectly. The hotel even provided free transfers to and from the airport. I put the exact same hotel and flights through Expedia and booking through them would’ve cost us about £900 more for the identical holiday . The hotel was great and I would recommend anyone looking for an all-inclusive family holiday in the sun to consider doing similar to the above. We are looking to go the DIY route again for a holiday abroad next summer and I wondered if anyone had any similar good experiences to share? The only real criteria we have is a family friendly hotel somewhere sunny with a good pool. If you could name the actual hotel and airports used, that would really help as copying a successfully tried and tested itinerary gives a little more reassurance. We’d also consider a privately rented villa (with pool) if anyone has any recommendations with easy airport transfers that don’t require a hire car.
  2. The 2026 tournament has 46 teams. Maybe there will be an even easier 3rd half of the draw.....?
  3. The fact that no one I know, nor anyone on here was aware of Southgate having spent time on Saints' books makes me wonder whether this is a mistake.
  4. Football finance expert on Radio 4 this morning was saying that Abramovic selling up would not be a problem for Chelsea. They are one of the top 5 most desirable clubs in the world and wealthy foreign concerns would be queueing up to buy them.
  5. You can't always get Jose Fonte You can't always get Jose Fonte You can't always get Jose Fonte But if you try sometimes, you just might find You just might find..... You get Harry Reed
  6. If you don't mind an outdoor pitch you could try Knightwood Leisure Centre, Chandler's Ford.
  7. Sorry, my original post wasn't particularly well worded. What I'm keen to know is how the diversion is working out? What's the traffic time from Chilworth roundabout to city centre, via Swaything/Portswood in morning rush hour?
  8. I'm off this week but my commute normally involves coming in to Southampton on Bassett Avenue. Just wondering how bad the delays are. Anyone got any experience of this morning to share? How long did it take to get through in rush hour? I may look at working from home next week if it's really bad.
  9. Sorted now, in case anyone was wondering! Don't ask me how.
  10. Old git here. Last computer game I played was on a ZX Spectrum. My son has an Xbox One and can't get the headset to work. Ive tried but am sadly no use to him. I don't think there's anything wrong with the hardware, as it does register a quick beep in the headset when you press the mute button. It must be something simple, but it's beyond me. Anyone got any suggestions?]
  11. Forster apparently dropped according to Talksport.

  13. "Mickey Mouse doesn't look like he did in 1935, but he's still Mickey Mouse". The new Pompey slogan.
  14. Some of it is toe-curling. Citing Britney Spears, Christina Agualara and Justin Timberlake being in the Mickey Mouse club as proof that he nurtures talent.
  15. Much as I'd love a few beers, the trains being a potential nightmare on the day of the final are making me seriously consider driving up. Usually for a trip to London I'll park in the multistorey at Richmond and get the tube from there. Anyone got any other ideas that avoid going too central?
  16. This is the view of any right minded 'part-timer'. Calm down die-hards!
  17. 11pm tonight on Talksport, My Sporting Life: Danny Kelly talks to Matt LeTissier about his career.
  18. With tonight's results, they are down to 8th. Accrington in 9th have equal points and 2 games in hand. EDIT:I see I was a bit slow on the uptake with this post. Some things are worth repeating though.
  19. Hi, I should first say that I'm posting this on behalf of my 8 year old son. The last gaming I did was on the ZX Spectrum, so please bear with me! My lad plays Terraria on his hudl Android tablet. The app was downloaded from the amazon app store. He's been really exited about a new update that was due out today - version 1.3. However, there is no option to update the game on his version. Does anyone know if the 1.3 update will be available to download on Android devices anytime soon? I've searched the internet for an answer but have drawn a blank. Grateful for any help.

    Cornwall

http://www.southpenquite.co.uk/camping.html Had a week here a few years back. Excellent campsite and not too far into Cornwall, saving travelling time. The nearest pub is 'within staggering distance' as they put it on their website - about a mile. It's a good one though if you like your proper beer.
  21. count me in as another one who hopes they do well against everyone except Saints. Eddie Howe deserve s all the success he's getting.
  22. Caught a bit of the game on Solent today. Pompey play in a league where the commentator describes how the ball is hoofed out of the ground into someone's garden and smashes their greenhouse.
  23. 4 goals scored at Millwall today by players whose name begins with the letters 'Ho'. The really amazing thing though is that Jos was on the pitch and none of the scorers was 'Hooiveld (OG)'
  24. The company in charge of this salvage operation are actually Dutch
  25. In 1982, Saints played Swedish minnows Norrkoping in the UEFA cup. After a 2-2 Draw in the first leg at the Dell, the second leg was still 0-0 deep into the second half. I will always remember John Hughes on Solent going on and on about the game heading for extra time and what an embarrassment this was considering the players in Saints line up (Shilton/Ball/Armstrong etc). Then shortly after the final whistle someone obviously told him about the away goal rule meaning that Saints had lost the tie, leading to embarrassing back tracking and complete shock that Saints were in fact, out. I really wish I could hear that again.
