Ha, thought I would see a thread like this after yesterdays game. We will probably lose to Swansea as consistency is our main issue and then there will be a thread claiming that MP hasn't taken us to the next level and that 2 points from Sunderland, West Ham and Swansea at home is woeful. We will likely have a nice mid table season without fear of relegation unless we start winning 3-4 games on the spin fairly regularly.

Agree about the 3rd place stuff but I think fans have the right to expect a win at home against a 56 places below us. Doesn't mean that fans are acting like we are Barcelona.

Early on last season he went missing for large parts of games when played in a deeper position but very tidy further forwards and helps us with the high press in particular. Probably not clinical enough to be the main player in the hole but a great option in a midfield 5 or 3.

Point is that they don't all pull up tree's every week and people have seen enough to let the bad games and bad patches of form slide. IMO, I've seen enough games to know what he can do when fit, on form and playing, just a case of getting to that point whatever the reason. A 12M player is somewhat below the "world class" standard of 20M+ players and sometimes if feels like he is judged on those standards.

It's a good point, the price tag is banded about a lot but a few of our squad would be valued in the same region and are not under the same scrutiny week in week out.

A little bit sad IMO that you're watching a player who is capable of goals like he scored tonight and you're sat counting the number of times he lost the ball. Do many people actually enjoy football anymore?

I think the main point people are making is that the competition isn't all that. I'm sure people would be on here complaining about the likes of Milner and Young if they were playing for us week in week out.

Completely agree, he is a workhorse first and foremost. Lallana has his off days but he is still one of our best players and I know who I would rather watch every week.

There is no right or wrong, try not to think too much and go with your instincts Krakers.

What about Young, Milner, Cleverly? England are already relatively poor.

He gets recognition without the goals, he just needs to be effective at what he does.....keeping the ball, creating chances for others, working hard for the team. Lots of out and out strikers won't get 12 goals a year.
