Breaking news - danny ward signs for Huddersfield
S-Clarke replied to skinner05's topic in The Saints
Good thread title..(!) Good signing for Huddersfield, replacement for Pilks really. He wouldn't get into our team in the place of Lallana or Chambo. -
Hammond is a good player and is in a good run of form at the moment. I've always liked what he offers, he can look limited at times but I think he always gives his all. We don't need cover for Chambo and Lallana, that's just being greedy tbh. We have N'Guessun and Forte who have not had a chance to make an impact yet, they can play on the flanks (either side) or up front. I don't understand why they're being written off with less than 120mins to their names.

9 points out of a possible 9. Bournemouth - haven't been beaten at home since the start of December, and we won 3-1 there. Colchester - hadn't been beaten at home since November, and we go there and win 2-0. Yeovil - not a great game, but 3 points , 3 goals and job done. All that's needed at this stage of the season. But those 2 away results are stand out for me - terrific results.
-
You are making yourself look very silly on here saint lard. It's like you're desperate for him to do badly so you can say ''I told you so'' - but you're bringing up totally ridiculous reasons as to why he's ''rubbish'' and apparently promotion form since Adkins has been ''in the building'' isn't good enough. Just accept that you've been proven wrong before you embarrass yourself even further - he's a good manager.
-
Agreed, although we all have pretty tricky run-ins. P'Boro def. have the hardest though, which is good news based on their current form.
-
Results wise we have, maybe not in terms of performances - but who performs 100% every game over the course of a season? Results wise we're up their with Brighton, unfortunately our start hampered us - which isn't anything to do with Adkins and co.
-
Out of contract at the end of the season I think...
-
We underperformed at the start of the season, but I'd say we've performed to expectations since. Given the start we had, we needed to go on a run of top form to get in and around the automatics again - and we're there.
-
Some players not in good form at the moment....but we are still winning!

Only one I agree with is Chappers, his form has really slipped in the last few games. We all saw what he's capable of though, and I'm sure he'll get back to it. He's going to be a mainstay for the rest of the season now. -
Hoddle would have got us second.

Bournemouth 1 - 3 Saints - Post Match Reaction

Team was pretty much the same, only 3 players were missing - Otsembor (thank ****) Morgan (Injured) and Punch (buggered off) -
Nice one. Any reason?

If it does go to the last game of the season...then we have to be second going into it. The key games on the last day: Bournemouth v Rochdale, 15:00 Huddersfield v Brentford, 15:00 Peterborough v Dag & Red, 15:00 Southampton v Walsall, 15:00 All at home against struggling teams...you'd fancy everyone to win their games.

Good post mate - Enjoy the rest of the season. Still would be decent to see us Brighton and you guys come up in the playoffs. -
I think if you look at most challenging teams at the ends of seasons, across most divisions, they don't usually produce the most amazing form. Titles and promotions are often won by the teams that can grind out a result whilst not playing well and that's what it's all about at this stage. With the games piling up and the squads stretched It's hard to play with the freshness and quality that you play with early season. TBH what we're doing at the moment is something that i've not associated with Saints in my supporting life.
-
Hudders are very stretched at the moment. As well as Pilkington being out, they've now lost Kay - their CB, for a good month or so. I think they'll feel the strain if I'm honest and just come up short in the end. It's easy to say ''I don't know where P'boro will drop points'' at the moment - as they're winning most weeks, but there was a thread about Charlton a few months ago ''They're our biggest challengers'' etc. A month of defeats and draws for them and they are out of any promotion race. The amount of away games they have left is crucial and with our games in hand and our home games....we should have enough to do it, and hopefully before the last game of the season too!

1-0 to you, caught out the pendant.
-
Think we need someone with experience tbh. - someone who's been there and done it. Lee Carsley? Not sure if he's injured, but hasn't played for Cov. for a while.

Nah, not really. Couple of hairy moments but it sounded like the 2nd half was ours - pretty much controlled it tbh. -

Sounds like a loan midfield signing is imminent. -

Adkins playing it down. ''3 goals, 3 points, onto the next one. That's all'' well said...lol -
He's got the right people around him now, that's for sure.
-
def. an improvement though Baj, there have been times when the forum would be unavailable for an hour after the match - but it's really responsive now. ....although is that because we won, and there's nothing to moan about?
-
Bit harsh mate? I hope it's been said in jest...? By listening to the commentary he actually came on and made a bit of a difference for us, holding the ball up, getting stuck in etc. He showed a silly bit of inexperience to get sent off though - he'll learn from that.
-
Better than usual Baj (no database errors that i could see) But i couldn't get back on the forum in the 2nd half - kept timing out for me (connection to server timed out etc). It does load eventually...if you have the patience to keep refreshing!
