Close season is fantastic...!
-
Ox will be fine. He'll tear the championship a new one if we keep him. Arsenal aren't just interested in a good L1 player, they're after one of the hottest talents in english football.

I went pretty much every week, and the performances were solid in the whole. We did a professional job on most of the teams we played, even if we only won 1-0 we didn't get caused too many issues in alot of games and most of the time we came out with the higher possesion stats. I appreciated the run we had at the end of the season, it was a promotion winning run of form. Winning games from all sorts of positions, being 2-0 down, winning at the death, winning a game confortably 3-0 etc.... We also have Lallana, Morgan, Fonte, Davis, Jaidi, Butterfield, Richardson (probably a few more I can't think of) that have played regularly at championship level. If we can add 2 or 3 more quality players to that group, we'll be fine. We're not coming into this level with a lower league squad, we already have a pretty decent championship basis for a squad. Just chill.

Have you spoken to Cortese?
-
No point in throwing the stats Nick, they have their minds made up. Apparentley we were supposed to win 5-0 every week.
-
He has an agenda, take anything from him with a big pinch of salt.
-
tbf Lambo got 37 goals and 25 assists in his first season with us. Pretty amazing stats.
-
Pretty much. You've been here during pre-season before, haven't you?
-
And the ball was given to us for free for christ sake, if we had any money we'd have gone out and bought the best ball for £10m. We're skint.

This thread is born out of frustration by the way the club now runs. I think everyone is dying to see some movement and you certain clubs being linked with player x, y , z etc - but we don't work like that, you hear our signings once they have put pen to paper and I have no reason to believe that will change. People saying we have no money is based on nothing but frustration, we clearly do have money and you will see the proof over the next 6-8 weeks. As I posted before, Leicester City fans are also asking ''where is the money?'' as they are underwhelmed by their activity. Just to put some perspective into it.

I think most people with sanity agree with that too! Anyone panicking now, and I'll stand by what i said before, is being hysterical.
-
To put a bit of context in this thread, it's not just us thinking this way. Check out the Leicester City forum http://talkingballs.co.uk/showthread.php/33715-less-money-than-we-thought?p=1041075#post1041075

Every team in L1 and the champ were saying this about us and M'Boro last season. It really isn't that simple.
-
tbf, the teams coming down last year were utter tosh. Portsmouth were a mess, had no team and no money and were never going to be a threat. Burnley had a rubbish manager in charge and weren't very strong anyway. Hull were financially messed up and struggled to get anyone in. The teams coming down this year already have established premiership squads and seem to have the means to add to it. The weakest of the relegated squads is probably Blackpool, but with holloway in charge they'll still be a tough team to play.
-
Not in my recent memory, even when we were skint we managed 1.2m on Morgan.

I've read some serious OTT comments on here over the last few days, we're destined for relegation if we don't sign anyone soon, we're being left behind...etc etc. We really shouldn't be comparing ourselves to Promotion candidates yet though, we've just got ourselves into this league. And we will make signings, anyone who thinks otherwise is being a bit silly.
-
I'd be disappointed with a 13/14th placed finish. (i meant to say anything below 13th above) I want to see us compete with the play off teams and I believe we will, even with this current group of players we've got more than enough to give it a decent shot IMO. Promotion, probably not, but competing at the top end of mid-table is what I'd be looking for.
-
I think we need to calm down a bit. We've got some serious hysterical farts as fans. We will have lots of targets, some that haven't even been speculated about. We will make signings and they will improve the team, as we have done in the past 2 seasons. It doesn't need to be done tommorow, or by 8pm tonight. It's about getting the right players to fit into the pretty tight group we have at the moment. Gelling will not even come into the equation as we will not be buying a new team.
-
We seem to have some fans that think we can walk into this league and dominate it. Not going to happen. But we'll still be well clear of relegation, even if we don't sign anyone.
-
Just outside the playoffs would be a decent season (anything between 12-6th based on last season), finishing inside the playoffs would be a very good season. Anything below 12th will equal a poor season.
-
I think people are a bit quick writing off Hammond, he's played here before for Brighton and did pretty well - was one of their better players. He's more than good enough and will be in our team from the start.
-
It won't be plain sailing for anyone, no matter how much you spend. Look at us at the start of last season for e.g. - I guarantee pretty much every L1 forum said we'd walk the league, the title is already decided etc. But it's not all about the individuals you sign, it's about having the most cohesive team unit - which is something we managed to find after Adkins had been here a while. If Leicester and West Ham can gel quickly, then fair enough, but it wouldn't surprise me if they're stuttering along come November with a surprise team showing consistency in the top 2, and I'd expect it to be a team that have been together for a few seasons, not a team full of glittering individuals. The table will probably sort it's self out come the end of the year and WHU may finish in the top 2, but it won't be as easy as many are making out.

No one has a clue what's going to happen, including Talk Sport. They spout out rumours just as the tabloids. I expect him to start right mid against Leeds.
