Sinclair is quality, but keep an eye on Ward-Prowse. I don't think it's long before he's the next big thing, he's incredibly gifted. a CM with great technique. I don't like to say Stephens because we nicked him from Plymouth, but he will be first choice RB before long. Class act.

You getting hm confused with MCgoldrick? Blackstock has been a decent success for them, 18 in 56 apps IIRC. He's out injured atm, has been for the past 6 months, will be back in the new year apparently.

Which striker could you realistically see us getting on the Bus next week?

I think Pardew was linked with him back in january a few years back, when he was at Gillingham. but we went for Barnard instead. -
p.s - we've spent £4m in this window, and have tied down our key players to long term deals. That doesn't strike me as a club with no ambition.

Just watched the video on Saints player - Forecast is back again then......he is such a waste of time, he can't even get a game at Thurrock for christ sake.

I don't think it is over rated if I'm honest. What we have here is priceless, a group of players that have been together for 2 years + and have a real bond, that isn't going to evaporate overnight and it takes years for these sort of spirits to form. This is why Norwich were so successful, they didn't have players like Lallana or Cork - but they gave it a bloody good go because everyone worked their socks off for each other.
-
I think we'll be expected to Compete, but promotion isn't the be all and end all. It would be a fantastic bonus and I'm sure we'll give it a bloody good go. Next year is a different matter though.

Exactly right. It took us years to get rid of all our premiership dead wood. Do we really need to fill our squad with that again?
-
But clubs don't want to pay our asking price. And we're well within our rights to ask for £1m, he's our player, we don't need to sell, he's proven himself in the top flight and has a few years left in contract. Fair price tag on him IMO, if clubs don't want to pay that then that's up to them. I don't think that's us being difficult at all.

Do we need another thread like this? Connolly and Lambert are doing a good job of scoring goals so far aren't they? Not sure how that makes anyone deluded. We could do with another option as we will get injuries and suspensions, but you say we shouldn't breoken the bank or splashed the cash for one. Well the targets we had were ambitious and would have required us to do that - Who would you have signed? Again - there is no point in signing a make-way player, just because you couldn't get the first choice. If you can't get the first choice, don't bother or get a loan deal sorted.

So many knee-jerk reactions. What we did after that result was extraordinary and record breaking, to me that shows that Adkins knew exactly what he had to do to get out of this league. If he'd have had a strop about that result, like some of our fans, we'd have struggled - but he's clever enough to see the bigger picture, and to see that we actually had lots and lots of games in front of us. Draw a line under it etc, don't get too down after a loss, or too elated after a win. Good management. lol @ my post though. What a pleb.

In and around the play-offs. Between 5th -9th IMO. Automatic promotion is going to be very difficult, be realistic. Anyone expecting that is going to have a very frustrating season, we really shouldn't pin all our hopes on that - we've just been promoted to this league! We can give it a go to get up, no doubt about that, and I expect us to compete, but what Norwich did was a freak thing in a weaker league - It'll be hard for us to do it. Will be interesting to see where we are in January, that window could be important.
-
We did play really well first half against Wallsall, their keeper had a worldy and we should have won it comfortably really. Just one of those games. But those with perspective would have seen it was just one of those games, and we were still very well positioned to go up. Which we did in the end. People focus too much on single results.

Afobe is a great shout. A little raw, but has terrific attributes that could cause teams alot of problems. Another name I'd throw into the mix is Ebanks-Blake, will be interesting to see if he's named in Wolves squad. -
This all happened very late in the day so I am very pleased we got him in. "Jason is a good acquisition because he brings pace and plenty of desire. "To be perfectly honest, he was so keen to come to QPR I think he would have paid us! "He is desperate to do well, and that really impressed me." Give it 6-12 months Neil, and he'll want out again. Not really sure how much playing time he'll get, with them signing SWP.

Yep, it's now confirmed on the OS. Out of favour winger Jason Puncheon has joined Queens Park Rangers on loan until January. The move is pending Premier League approval, but once complete will see the former MK Dons man remain with Rangers until 2nd January. Puncheon spent part of last season loan at Blackpool, and has not featured in any game for Saints so far this term.

Nice to see a bit of Loyalty though, was the same situation with Sharp (ok, this is only speculation/rumour etc) - but he wanted a massive wedge and relocation costs covered by the club. He wasn't too keen to move away from where he'd lived all of his life. You can say it may be a lack of ambition, but hey, he's still earning a decent wage and has probably got a nice comfortable life. I'm not sure he's worried either way.

Hope you have an interesting chat mate. Make sure you pop back here and let us know how it went! Any nice snippets etc..

There is no way any of our fans should be thinking ''we should win this game easily''. What are we, real madrid or something? We've just been promoted and everyone expects us to be thrashing everyone for some reason. (teams like Forest who were in the top 6 last year ffs) Winning most weeks for the last few years at a lower level, doesn't mean you will do it at a higher level. I'm pretty sure we'll loose more games this year than last year, as the oppo is at a totally different level. I have a feeling quite a few of our fans will struggle to adjust to this.
-
arrrrgh! I bet you any money that Blackpool come in with a bid to take him on loan next week.
-
Or as simple as the clubs not wanting to sell their best players and demanding stupid money.
-
and I'm also confused as to why fans seem to think we have to compete with WHU and Leicester straight away, haven't we just come up from L1? why are the expectations for us to go into another automatic promotion race? We'll see where this year takes us, but I'm certain promotion is not the be all and end all this season. (Much like Norwich last year)
-
What, did they spend £6m on a striker? They targeted specific players, from L1 and loans from the premiership. No big money signings, and I'm sure we'd have underwhelmed fans if we'd signed Russell Martin or Andrew Crofts for e.g. I'd say our signings of Cork, De Ridder and Fox are on par or better than any business they did last summer. Team spirit and momentum can take you a long way.
