  1. We have lost a great player to Arsenal, but how the hell can you stop them going from our position? You can't. We need to be established in the premiership to be able to retain those players, and until we are we need to make sure we get the most out of them and get the best deal possible if and when they are sold. We've done that.
  2. It might seem weird to say, but this shows how financially secure we are. We dictated exactly what we wanted, we're not kicked around by clubs and forced to accept...£2m + £3m, +£4m when he wins the world cup etc.... This is our deal, dictated to our terms, and I like that. Whatever people say - ''Well he's sold our best player like Lowe, he's just as bad'' - Well I'm sorry, he'd have to have been a total and utter mentalist to reject £15m for a 17 year old.
  3. Some of the posts on here are a little bitter! We will miss him because he was a tremendous young talent, and I'm as ****ed off as anyone that we couldn't keep him. But at the same time that is counterbalanced by the unbelievable deal we have reached with Arsenal. 7m up front wouldn't be too bad, but 12m up front is sensational and this will help us strengthen the positions we need to with top level championship players. I'll miss seeing him on the right and the excitement he generated when he was running and beating players, but at least we got to see this lad play for a year and it's another real coup for this astonishing academy we have. We when lost theo for that price I didn't think we'd get anyone near that level again....then we got Bale....but then Alex's price has just blitzed both of those, so we can all be pretty optimistic and excited that there is another amazing young player just around the corner. For me, I take pride in seeing Bale rip up Inter Milan as it shows our club in a fantastic light, especially for any 10-15 year old kid looking for his first academy to join. I wish him all the best and I think he'll break through immediately and not hang around waiting like Theo. I'm sure we'll see him ripping up top teams in the champions league soon.
  4. All i'm worried about now is clubs like Bristol City and Burnley will see us coming and double their price.....''you've got alot to spend after selling chambo, so you can pay double"
  5. 12 million up front, what the ****
  6. It is alot of money, but he's an awesome talent. On par with some of the best young players in world football at the moment, maybe even better for his age. He'll get better and I hope he gets the games, it'll be frustrating...but I think we all have a little pride when we see the likes of Bale and Theo strutting their stuff at the San Siro etc...which i'm sure Alex will be in time.
  7. It's a tremendous fee really. 7m up front cash will help us immediately as well, without having to wait for years in order to reinvest. We already had significant money to spend on the team, so this little lump sum is going to create a very exciting august for us. We're targeting the best championship players, weather that comes off or not..who knows.
  8. I think he's on another planet to Routledge tbh, potentially one of the best wide players in Europe - that's why arsenal want him. He's got excellent technique and skill on par with alot of top players in Europe. I hope he gets his chance at Arsenal because I think he'll walk into the premiership without any issue.
  9. He's not a wind up, he called the deal about Palacios to stoke days ago, tweeted about Miller days ago....he's/they or whoever it is, have their finger on the pulse.
  10. It's promising that it looks like we're going to reinvest the Alex money straight away.
  11. I'd try and replace him with Albert Admoah (sp?) at Bristol City.
  12. I think Lambo will be fine, if Steve Morrison and Holt can score upwars of 15 goals in this league, then Lambert should be able to without any issues - he's got the better all round game compared to those two IMO.
  13. Don't disagree with what you say at all, but I feel that as long as we replace the pace he has we still have the ability to open teams up. Lallana is the heartbeat of this team and losing him would be more costly to our entire game, we're kind of build around him.
  14. We'll miss him if he goes, but he's not pivotal to the way we play - that's a certain Mr Lallana. If we end up getting a decent lump sum for the kid, and are able to reinvest in someone like Maynard or Rodriquez, and assuming we sign someone in the position chambo occupied, it may well make us stronger. Time will tell though, we've heard this ''he's signed'' far too many times now.
  15. I could watch all 3 of our goals all night, they were terrific footballing/team goals. The combo between Lallana and Connolly for the 3rd was stunning. That's one thing I noticed that set us apart y/day....our movement off the ball, we were always on the move, always opening space. Leeds didn't have a clue who to pick up half the time.
  16. Rodriquez would be amazing. Top, Top player. Fox is a bit of an odd one....can he play left sided CB? or is he just a LB? Would make sense if he also played at CB i guess.
  17. I've heard that every player has a price on his head at Burnley, and they will accept any offers they deem acceptable for that player. We may need to up our bid to around 5-6m though.
  18. His response to that is very interesting MLG - sounds like he feels it's more formal than just speculation by his sheepish look.
  19. IMO He'd walk into Wolves team
  20. He was ok when he got the ball, he didn't get it enough in decent positions, which is why I don't like him out on the right. Although he did put in a good shift for the team. He didn't look out of place though, and that little tricky run into the penalty box just after we went 2-0 up was quality.
  21. Was in the papers this morning!
  22. Agreed. Although you have to credit Pard's for starting our turn around - he put this team together and got us the likes of Deano/Lambo etc, so he did stick us on the right track. But Adkins just feels such a better fit with the club as a whole.
  23. Danny fox and Jay Rodriguez.
  24. I would say it's probably because of his age and his lack of a real impact at a level above L1, he's not really seen as a youngster anymore - and possibly his lack of pace. He's still class though, and I'm sure we'll get some visits this season from scouts.
