  1. Harsh on Villa, they've looked very good these last few weeks - but today's results have plunged them straight back in it.
  2. Yep, congrats Watford. Deserve it. I think Deeney will score goals in the PL, he looks like a really good all-round player. Huge for Bournemouth on Monday, it could be the ultimate party.....or the ultimate throw away! I hope they do it to be honest, would be a great story. That league is total value for money though.
  3. He's better when he's got someone buzzing around and playing off of him - i.e Mane. He played very close to Pelle today and I felt it helped his game a lot. There have been a lot of games this season where Mane has been hugging the touchline and Pelle has been left totally isolated. He did have a poor patch, but that wasn't just down to Pelle - I just don't think we were creating enough around him. He's not a world beater or a mega-player, but he's a good player who will put the ball in the back of the net more often than not.
  4. I wouldn't stretch to disappointing, frustrating maybe, but not disappointing. I had a great afternoon, terrific entertainment in my opinion. 2 teams going for it in the right way. Played in a good spirit and at a high tempo - if there was going to be a winner it was likely to be us, but in the grand scheme of it a draw isn't the end of the world, what with Liverpool dropping points today. In reality, nothing has changed, which was the next best thing to winning today.
  5. Nah, 7th is pretty much done. Swansea have still got to play City and Arsenal. The only chance they'd really have is if we lost every single game.
  6. Dominic O'Caollai: Never said it before, but it's time Brendan Rodgers is sacked. Awful team selection and even worse substitutions. Steven Gerrard is done. All is not well in scouse land...
  7. No one has mentioned it, but what a **** day this could be for Villa! After all their heroics recently...
  8. lol wtf @ the championship. I'm not even going to attempt to keep up with it now. Who knows what's going on.
  9. Haven't they had something like 4 managers this season? They always had a good bunch of players there though. I like their strike force.
  10. Well that should be that for any lingering top 4 hopes ourselves, Spurs or Liverpool had. Fight for 5th is on.
  11. The last weekend in the NPC is going to be epic...
  12. Not 10, but between 5-10 goals. We need a threat from the AMC position. Look at Sigurdson at Swansea for e.g, think that's his 7th or 8th from AMC.
  13. Mane too lightweight? He holds off defenders he shouldn't have a chance against, nips the ball past them and creates openings. He is our best attacking player, by a mile. Teams don't know how to deal with him. Yes, he goes down too easily at times and is creating a bit of a reputation. Hopefully he can curb that as he matures, but he's an absolutely fantastic attacking player for us.
  14. The worry for them is that the teams below them are closing, they are playing with fight, belief and confidence. Newcastle look shot. I think anyone would fancy their chances against them right now. Maybe Jammat and Krul will be cheaper than we think!
  15. Maybe newcastle fans should be thanking Pard's? As if it wasn't for him getting the results earlier on this season, they would already be down and out. To be fair, they are looking in bad way. In real trouble right now.
  16. To be fair to Pelle, that 2nd goal he scored had been coming for weeks. I'm sure he's hit the bar so many times from that position over the last few months. The first goal lifted him and he worked his arse off which was pleasing to see. He's not the quickest player, heck I'm quicker, but this was the Pelle we loved during the first half of this season. Let's hope he can end the season with a bang, as he's always had the ability - it just hadn't happened for him and it hit his confidence as a result.
  17. It was a terrific game, Spurs were pretty poor until we scored - both times! It seemed that our goals woke them up from their slumber, although their 2nd came from nothing and was pretty rubbish to be honest. But overall a really, really enjoyable 90 minutes of football. Lots of effort, blood and thunder, apatite, quality, goals....it was a terrific premier league game in my opinion. I think we did shade it, but on the overall game we are two very even sides - so being level on points is about right! The goal gave Pelle the lift he needed, and his 2nd was Pelle from the start of the season. If he starts firing again, then we can finish 5th/6th. After the season we've had at the back, it looks dodgy now with Davis back there - no surprise really to be honest. Puts to bed all the ******** about Forster not being that good. But Steven Davis, jesus christ - what the hell!
  18. Davis hasn't had a great season tbh, always very reliable for us, but not so much in recent weeks. In my opinion, this is what we have lacked all season. A number 10 who can hit 5-10 goals from that position. We've tried JWP and Davis from that position, and neither are really that sort of player and their goal return is horrific. I think this is an area we need to look at, I know people will jump on the bandwagon that we need a striker - that's why we don't score many goals - but it's the duty of more than just Pelle. We need a new AMC who can pop up as a genuine goal threat most weeks.
  19. I didn't realise he'd turned down Barca when he was at Ajax, blimey. As I thought, a very genuine and honorable bloke. In good hands, I felt that from the moment we got him. He's just got this aura of confidence and belief about him, which only top level world-class players have. Lucky and privileged to have such a famous name managing our club.
  20. I've seen stranger things. Man City in particular need to add English players to their squad, as they're short at the mo. I think they've resigned Richard Wright as 1051205350th choice keeper, just so they have an english name on their squad list. What with Milner not signing a new deal yet, Sinclair off in the summer, Richards out of contract, Dedrik Boyata too....they are in desperate need to add English names. Not that they'll play them, just so they'll be able to submit a squad list. It'll be exactly like Rodwell and Sinclair all over again. They were never signed by City to be anything other than squad fillers to ensure they met the requirements. As much as the FA PL think this is helping, along with FFP, it's just creating an even more ****ty situation. If Jay does go, then he is a complete and utter idiot who has just ****ed his career down the drain. But at least he'll have some extra $$$
  21. Yeah, that was odd. And to be fair, that statement is probably 100% true. The idea that his agents have been talking in the background is probably closer to the truth. It happens and is probably happen as we speak.
  22. I don't think it's stalled, I just think it's naturally evened it's self out. The bigger squads, the most expensive teams with the bigger players eventually rise to the top, even if they have inconsistent seasons. The problem is for us to maintain the level we were on, we needed all of our key men to play at 100% every week - that's physically impossible, and when you don't have a big squad to freshen it up, you will start to fade as your key players wilt a little and pickup knocks/suspensions etc. But that's the life of being a club like Southampton, our only real chance to break the top 4 is to hope a Man Utd/Liverpool/Arsenal/City completely and utterly implode - and we'd probably need at least 2 of them to do that. As good a team as we are, the season will always eventually take it's toll both physically and mentally.
  23. He's a good player, but is very injury prone. We'd need him and 1 other, as he wouldn't last all season.
  24. If he pushes for a move this summer, he has been incredibly badly advised. He'd be ruined as a player, another Rodwell or Sinclair in the making. - although sinclair seems to be making an attempt to get back on track after 3 years of zilch. Also his reputation would be in tatters - let the club get you fit for a year, rake home the money, and never play for them again as you want to leave after all their help.
